Modest capacity, good adjustiable design, broke within 45 days
I purchased this item July 26, 2012. It replaced a ducky one that had a larger capacity, but which had lost its ability to grip the chlorine-holding cylinder that screws into the bottom. I decided not to throw good money after bad, and went back to the cheap standby with great reviews. The downside is that it only held four tabs vs the 6 the ducky held, but that's not a dealbreaker. It does have a nice adjustable ring around the bottom, and I'm fine with refilling my chlorinator a bit more often. I don't even deduct a single star for that; up to now we're still at 5.Unfortunately I went out in early September to check it, and found that one of the two tiny plastic knobs that locks the lid into place had come off. This makes the top extremely loose, and it can just pop off. With kids (or adults) jumping into the pool or swimming around, I expect it would be very easy for this to tip, and with an unsecured lid, the tabs could easily fall out.During the 45 days of use, it mostly just floated in an unused pool. I have maintained my pool for years without problems like this, so I know how to treat equipment without over-torquing it. I also expect that over time, the sun will degrade the top of the plastic that sits out in the dry heat all day. But I did expect more than 45 days. Not sure if I got a bad one, or if this product is to be avoided. Based on 39 glowing reviews, I might take one more chance.

First time use
I used to use granules that I just broadcast into the water. The tabs and this dispenser is convenient. The dispenser is sturdy enough and the cap locks closed. The tab is supposed to be for 10,000 gallons for up to a week. My pool is 4000 gallons and I found the water getting too high in chlorine. I don't think this dispenser is adjustable in a practical way. Although it has bottom cover that will block the slits in the bottom part, I was using one of 2 slits available and the chlorine level got too high. I am giving it 4 stars for construction and convenience, but I would rate it zero to 1 star if I am to rate it for dispensing control. I am newby at pool maintenance and have not looked into any other product, but this is just enough for me.

The only thing I would have liked for it to do is indicate when the chlorine ...
Bought the Kem-Tek Pool Floating Tablet Dispenser to use in our pool its the first one we have used since we are new pool owners but it seemed to do its job and have had no reason to look for any other Floater for our pool. Our Chlorine levels stayed where they needed to be as long as we kept the appropriate amount of chlorine in it. The only thing I would have liked for it to do is indicate when the chlorine was getting low it floats at the same level at all times so you have to check it every couple days to see if anything needed added.

Works great. Great price.
When I bought this on Amazon, it was a lot cheaper than the same one at my local pool store. It works great. It keeps the chlorine level in my 33,000 gallon pool at the right level most of the time without shocking. I have to refill it pretty often. I try to keep 4 high concentrate tabs in it. Back when I was using my old chlorinator that was gunked up with chlorine, I was hardly ever refilling it and needed to shock my pool at least once a week. I was going through a ton of shock and hardly any chlorine tabs, now it is the opposite (which is good, b/c it keeps the chlorine levels more stable.) I like that you can close the vents, or have it on the one vent or two vent option. Sometimes I close the vents when my solar cover is on soas not to burn a chlorine hole in the cover since the water is not circulating.

tough tab dispenser
We totally bought 6 dispensers before, firstly two Chlori-Duck Mallard, and then two Chlori-Duck White, and lastly two of this one. Those four ducks are very pretty, mainly for aesthetic reason (in other words, pool decoration). Yet they are more sensitive to the sunlight (UV), after only a couple of months in summer season, the Mallard ducks' green heads started to fade, then we realized that we'd better get some work horse dispenser for the tough season. So these two Kem-Tek came in, they are like Ford pickups for you heavy duty works, while those pretty ducks are just like Lexus CUVs for your party. The blue cover of these dispensers do fade under the brutal Southern California sunlight, however, as long as these two dispensers serve the purpose of chlorine level control, it does not matter whether the blue color turns white or not. It is a large dispenser, each one can contain three to four 3" tabs. Two despensers, totally six tabs, enough for 2 weeks of chlorine level worry-free.

Good dispenser, grows unreliable over longer periods of time
This is a fairly good product with one defect in my experience. If you look at the picture, you'll see that the flow of chlorine allowed by this dispenser is adjustable by rotating the bottom (in blue) in order to open and close little vertical windows, or louvers, to allow more or less water flow. The sole problem is that the windows tend to shut over time. Somehow, vibration, current, or whatever tends to close those little louvers over a matter of 3-4 days. So it works, but leave it for a week and ours will slowly stop dispensing as much, making it somewhat unreliable when you want to leave it go for more than a few days without checking.

Decent product for the price
Bought this product and within the first hour in the pool, one of the locking tabs broke off the top! However, other than no longer being childproof, this is a product that works as promised. I fit five 3" chlorine tablets in it without an issue. Rotate the bottom easily to adjust how much is delivered and drop it in the pool. The tab broke when it accidentally got flipped over when people were fooling around and tried tossing it out of the way. However, everything including the cover floats and we've had no problems with it yet otherwise. Would definitely purchase again if needed or recommend to others.

4,3,2 or 1 tablets
Nice dispenser. It will hold up to four 3" chlorine tablets. I did come across one problem though. Letting it float free throughout the pool allowed it to get stuck in the opening of the skimmer. This caused a decrease of water getting to the pump. Now this would eventually cause your pump to overheat. So I have to keep it teathered to the ladder and let it float free when the pump is off. I seem to have done better just putting a couple tablets directly in the skimmer. But all in all it does what it suppose to.
