Works great for me. Functional and good value. I use this for snelling hooks when pre-tying my steelhead leaders.

Update: After a few weeks of sticking with it it has gotten a bit better. I added a star because it does work, just needs a little break in. This vice is cheap, and that is the best thing about it. The hook seems to slip out of the vice unless I have it as tight as I can clasp it. I have adjusted it and can make it work, but for my son (12) who is just learning it causes frustration especially when trying to finish the fly.
