The Power of Storytelling: The Art of Influential Communication

I was very disappointed in this book. This relatively small treatment offers cursory and superficial advice on the art of storytelling. It provides morsels of advice on storytelling but not enough to transform your presentations. I found it ironic that this "expert" on storytelling wrote a book without telling it as a story. It just reads like a long list of things to consider. The author tries to provide insights on how to craft short stories to include into a presentation to better connect with the audience but I was looking for insights on crafting one's entire presentation as a story. I would recommend anyone really interested in a deeper more thorough yet engaging treatment of the art of storytelling to pickup Randy Olson's "Houston, We have a Narrative".

Ty Bennett's book is the most insightful guide I have ever encountered on impactful story telling and successful public speaking. Ty's insights into public speaking and leadership are obviously from one who has mastered the process. The book is quite comprehensive and touches on all aspects of competent speaking step by step. Veteran and novice speakers will benefit significantly from reading and following the tested guidelines in this book.

I was trying to find some material on how to use stories in business, since most of storytelling books base their fundaments on Campbell's "hero's journey".In a very engaging way, Ty Bennett led me through the mindset and gave me the tools to start using stories in a powerful and effective way. Very practical, simple and engaging, I recommend it for salespeople, leaders, teachers, anyone who want to improve their communication.

Some of the content isn't easy to follow but the inspiration way worth it. Why inspiration is more important than a lot of good information ? because it is hard to make everything into practice but because it is full of inspiration, i could make few steps forword with the advice which was given. thank you Ty
