Great heavyweight uniform that can handle a lot, but runs a bit large
Since I got back into martial arts training again, I needed a new uniform. I train in Kung Fu San Soo and wear a karate uniform simply because it takes the abuse from the training we do better than the thinner kung fu uniforms other kung fu schools wear. I also trained in Okinawan karate for a few years, so I know a bit about what a good karate gi should be.I originally ordered this uniform in a larger size from an online martial arts store, as the sizing chart said I should wear a size 7. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I could visually tell that size 7 was way too big. So I returned it, but the store was going to take awhile to accept the return and then ship back to me, when I needed a new uniform A.S.A.P.. So I checked out Amazon and they had the same uniform and in the size I needed, size 6 and I could get it a lot sooner. So far, its been pretty good and held up well to the type of martial arts training that I do. It also makes a nice sound whenever I practice strikes or forms. It definitely has some heft to it and while its not a Judo/BJJ uniform, I feel like it can handle some throwing/grappling. My instructor and classmates think it is a pretty nice uniform as well and at less than $100, I think its a great deal for a heavyweight uniform that isn't made in Japan. My only complaint is that it does run a bit large. While I do like a roomy uniform, its still a bit large for me, even though I ran it through hot water and into the dryer a few times, so I usually have to roll my pants and sleeves up a few times so I don't trip or let them touch the ground. Also, this uniform doesn't come with a belt, so you will have to buy a separate white belt online. I don't recommend the Ronin Brand belts though as they are very stiff and very short. The Tiger Claw brand of belts are good and affordable, though I recommend ordering a belt size larger than your uniform if you want more length Uniform Belt - White #7Overall its a great uniform that can handle hard training and look good at tournaments, but just be aware that it is a bit large even after shrinkage.

Make sure to buy the right size, when they tell you it will shrink 1-3 inches they are not kidding.
Karategui of the highest quality, stitching, cambas weight (12), and cotton all you can expect from much pricier brands. I am used to to dogui jackets that are a little bit shorter than this one but I think that might be an industrial trend. The draw cord for the pants and jacket is wide and well stitched. Knowing like I do the going prices of the leading Japanese brands, this is a very good deal; now remember, some of those brands are custom made to your specifications, this is not. If I can bring one Con I would say that I would liked the in - seam to be about 1 inch longer, but that’s just me. The pictures: A is right out of the bag, and B is after the first wash in warm water and machine dry. I ordered size 4, I am 5-7 and 157lbs. Good luck.

Ronin vs Fuji vs Hayabusa
I bought three heavy weight gis to replace my 10 years old light/medium weight gis.Fuji 14 oz. - my favorite. Fits very well, feels right, snappy, durable (so far), surprisingly comfortable for what this is. Pull strings on the pants are a bit short.Ronin 12 oz. - second favorite. Runs big. Like I have to roll the pants leg 4 times big. Top is very loose as well. Snappy, durable, almost as soft and comfortable as the Fuji.Hayabusa 16 oz. - least favorite of the three. Runs a little small. Heaviest material and you can feel it. Snappy but quite a bit rougher than the other brands.

Thick and Traditional Gi that looks great, but needs ironing
The weight of the cotton canvas material is quite exceptional. It's thick, so be ready! It's tough to wash, but if you use OxyClean you won't eat away at the fibers of the garmet like Bleach does. Cool temperature wash and dry has it turn out nice.| Pros: |Extremely thick and heavy weighted cotten materialRuns large, but with slight alterations it looks great. (better than too small!)Looks great during testing and tournaments if it is ironed! My Sensei appreciated the quality of this uniform| Cons: |Runs super large, so I had to go two sizes down to finally get the right size. Size 5 instead of 7 fit my 6'0 ft, 220 body. The material is so thick that when you wash it, even if you dry it on low-heat, the wrinkles do not come out. Ironing is the only way!The pants are HUGE! They require length and girth alterations. Altering the thickness is a bunch of work, so you may want to leave it wide.

Solid and professional
My husband has recently gotten back into martial arts and I wanted him to have a nice, thick, solid gi to wear that could stand up to pushing, pulling and throwing. This is a superb gi and well made. He was so happy with it!
