Not that I can imagine. You bear down on the clove so the silicone grabs the peel, so you couldn’t use it to skin something softer. Plus it’s pretty small. What did you have in mind?

where does the garlic skin go? seems like garlic would come out covered with bits of skin?

The skin actually sticks to the inside of the roller. Use a dry toothbrush to sweep them away if you need to peel multiple cloves. This roller really does save a lot of hassle and time; I was skeptical when I bought it and it has surprised me for the better. Once you get used to the roller, you can hear and feel when the skins come off. Note, however that elephant garlic cloves will likely be too large for this roller; the good news is that elephant garlic is easy to peel by hand. I also make peeling garlic the first step in cooking so that what peels off stays dry on the cutting board and is easy to sweep to trash; the skins are a pain when they get wet... they stick to everything. Cleaning the inside of the roller is easy with Dawn and a toothbrush. Hang dry.
