Do you need a special printer?

No. I used my regular HP printer and regular printer paper. I’ve also used magazine pictures, and pictures from those daily desk calendars. If you’re designing your own buttons to print, it’s helpful to have a program for that. You can find those online.

I keep having trouble getting the back pin to align correctly at the top even after following instruction booklet. How can I fix this??

I noticed the same thing where the pin gets rotated slightly when is raised into the top mold. I started placing the design sheet over the pin front in the first mold so that it was turned about 10-15 degrees clockwise and they turn out pretty straight after the back is attached. If I need it to be precise, I will mark the rim of front mold every 1/4-1/2” or so with a fine tip sharpie to determine the best positioning for a specific design.

Is there a computer program to use with this button maker?

Not that I'm aware. I am a graphic designer - I use Adobe Illustrator to create the designs

Amazing. The instructions and troubleshooting works amazing. The lubricant did get on my hand, but I was poking around anyway. Be mindful of that before giving to younger children. The metal button bits are flimsy, and can get misshaped, but as long as you’re not extremely rough, it’s fine. 4% of the buttons fell off the plastic backs after correctly making them, and static can lift the protective film and shifting it out of place. But when the buttons are made correctly, they are sturdy and long lasting
