Great Stabilizer at an Incredible Price
I've owned a couple other gimbals, namely the Flycam HD-3000 and the Glidecam HD1000. This one is definitely the best of the three. I've been using it for about two months now. PROS: 1. Construction - Solid, feels durable, looks very sharp. Nice Labels on the adjustment knobs make it way easier to know which way you're moving the plate. Not having this always bugged me about the Glidecams. So many great little details make it a breeze. Adjustable gimbal with rulers - what a great idea! 2. Operation - Very easy to setup, and had it stable with my GH5 within 10 minutes. 3. Price - This gimbal blows away any that I've seen in it's price range. Parker Walbeck has a great comparison video in which it holds its own against the $799 DGS Glidecam, and they've improved the design somewhat since then. 4. Comes with Quick Release Plate - Low and mid range Glidecams don't come with one, you have to buy an aftermarket one from Neewer or Manfrotto or some other brand, and the screws may or may not align properly with the cheese plate. Just a hassle. CONS: 1. Weight - This stabilizer is noticeably heavier than most other manual stabilizers. I have not yet used it in any long shoots, so that hasn't been a big deal to me. All in all, a great piece of equipment, and the extra 1.5 lbs is well worth it for the money saved on this as opposed to the DGS Glidecam. I highly recommend it and would buy again.

Simple, sturdy, adaptable.
I've purchased three different stabilizers and this is by far the most adaptable and easy to use. Instructions weren't included, but YouTube of course provided ten great options and none was necessary. The FLYCAM adapts onto the vest and arm I recently purchased and also works well as a stand alone. Balancing is simple, the rod is adjustable in length and weights (included) are easy to add to the bottom plate. One difference between equipment is not high-quality, well thought out, and equipment like this--that IS, are the standardized sizes that allow for adding non-proprietary equipment and adapting this equipment to work with other, off-brand stuff. In photo/video, 1/4" and 3/8" UNC are almost universal on tripods and mounts--and this steady device features plenty. Another feature I like, that wasn't available on the less expensive Neewer model, is a sliding collar on the handle that allows for adjustment up or down the primary balancing rod. Used as a stand-alone steadiam, I've found a handle position closer to the camera plate is best--but adapting this into a very inexpensive attempt at an Arri Trinity favors positioning the handle mid-shaft and more balanced. The camera plate features horizontal and verticle worm threads for making adjustments to the camera's position. This comes in handy when changing lenses, accessories, or doing about anything that would otherwise throw off the balance. On less expensive models this feature doesn't exist and that requires a whole lot of manual adjust--test--adjust--test...it takes a whole lot of time. I'm relatively new to this industry, but already the difference between quality, and 'good enough' is becoming obvious. I dare not venture into the top notch professional equipment that lives at price points beyond what I can or should reasonably consider--but in the prosumer range, this is an impressive piece of equipment. I'm shooting still with a Nikon D810 and probably going to get a D750 back-up, and video with a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera--no matter what lens I use on either of the aformentioned bodies, this handles them well. It's amazing how such a simple device improves the quality of video, and sometimes when shooting run and gun stills at events or otherwise I've started using this with success. I can't speak to the durability since I've only had this for a couple of weeks--but I suspect, based on the 'feel' of it--there won't be any issues.

Stability is much harder than I thought
I've been longing for this stabilizer for God knows how long. It took me a while to save up for it and when it was finally in stock, I had to wait a couple of weeks for it because the two-day shipping option was gone as soon as I ordered it. When I received it, it was more than I expected it to be. A lot, I mean a "lot" of piece has to be assembled and it was quite heavy. Expect a bit of a workout when it comes to using it, I'll admit. I really wanted to master it so quickly because I had a few jobs lined up but it doesn't necessarily happen overnight. I tried to balance it perfectly with my camera but, apparently, it kept spinning and when I try to rebalance it to its center of gravity, it seemed like it was getting worse. I gave up and I brought it back. I wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong or perhaps the item that was shipped to me was inoperative. I've tried over and over and over repeatedly. It wasn't working for me. Perhaps, one day, I'll reorder and, hopefully, I'll get it right this time. Other than that, get this stabilizer because I still believe it is worth it. It might not work right away but keep trying because I will try it again until I get it right.

EXCELLENT quality clone of Glidecam DGS model
Surprisingly high quality for an near 1:1 clone of the Glidecam Devin Graham Signature Series model, at a fraction of the price. Really good bearings, fit, finish, machining, packaging, etc. Identical operation, mechanics and instructions. The quick adjust and quick release head, in addition to the movable handle position are what makes this and the Glidecam DGS variant, much more expensive and valuable than other models. I added a light weight arca clamp on top of the long Manfroto PL/500 style plate so I can just bolt it on and off without messing with swapping plates. Can balance a smaller DSLR all the way to a huge Red camera setup. I use a d810 with a 24-70 2.8 and Tokina 11-16 2.8 and it works great. Unbelievably smooth shots, with no fragile electronics to break. My only gripe is the head had a bit of play in the vertical shaft, which I fixed by building up a few layers of enamel. VERY HAPPY, this is a no-brainer if you're trying to save some coin over the alternative with 98% of the fit, finish and function.

BUTTER.... A replica PRO device not found in the US but worth every dime.
It is smooth and will balance all regular size DSLRs and most medium-sized camcorders with ease. It is NOT small. It is NOT light. The size is formidable for shorter users or for users with limited upper body strength, but for the physically fit film-maker looking forward to learning how to operate a steadicam with plans to get a vest and arm kit down the road it is the creme de la creme of all stabilizers. Besides the fact that it is sleek and sexy looking with the supplied carrying case... It just FEELS good. The perfect addition to my film-making arsenal. BUTTER smooth pans, and pushes, that will rival rail systems and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of professional dolly and grip solutions for the smaller run an run type shooting scenario.

Was really hoping this would be it
Wanted a second Glidecam - I have a Devin but wanted one for backup for second shooter. Good Quality looked good Fine-tuning was okay ( see bad ) Very heavy Quality control terrible Bad For whatever reason, the two units I got - had nicks, scratches, one was even marked up - like someone marked it as they probably were balancing theirs Total balance was not easy, something was off - I just couldnt get it centered no matter what. Why I returned it? the quality issues just bothers me. I get it, this isnt some $$$ item but I dont know about you guys, but I dont want to use anything that may been tampered with or used prior. also i noted on the plate, how easy it was to scratch off so I have to wonder over long time.. as youre adjusting and such, it'll continue to wear it down and remove the black paint off the track. i guess you pay for what you get which seems to be the go to praise looking at other comments. Maybe next time, I;ll try it again..

Great product, even better company.
This is 4 times less expensive than the nearest competitor (IMHO). The only thing better than the product is the leadership at the company. I don't want to go into details but suffice it to say that they want to make sure you're not only happy but that you become a raving fan. I'm a raving fan of proaim. Pros: Price, quality of build, company behind the product. Cons: The grip slipping problem and it's a little heavy. This is not for whiners and wimps. Depending on your gear this is going to get heavy at times. If you can't handle the weight then don't buy it and don't complain. I'm sure the grip fix is on the way. Great job Proaim!

Excellent! Highly recommend.
Just got this today, and it’s everything I thought it would be - well constructed and works great! Before I got it, I watched a quick YouTube video on how to balance a fly/glidecam - it was so quick and easy to setup and use! My 12yr old son and I were both flying around the house with buttery-smooth shots in the first ten minutes of opening this. I have three minor gripes, which collectively lost one star in this review - it’s heavy, the top piece isn’t tool-less when mounting to the shaft, and the bag had a small tear in it when I opened the box (note that I used a small key to shallowly score the tape on the box, so I’m sure that i didn’t cause this). I highly recommend this for anyone who wants a high-quality mechanical stabilizer and doesn’t want to spend a lot of money. Way to go Flycam!

Great Artists Steal; Glidecam poser at a huge discount
This may be a near carbon copy of Glidecam's Devin Graham Signature but at less than half the price it's a beautiful addition to any independant filmmaker's arsenal. I've been working with a few difference handheld stabilisers and shoulder mounts before and this is a fantastic addition to that arsenal. As someone who has shot live events before it may very well replace them all. The balancing is smooth and almost effortless and it's very easy to configure a proper "drop time" with the friction lock movable gimbals. The construction feels sleek and very sturdy. High grade aluminium and anodised markings, including the marked position numbers for the gimball. The weights are very dense and I found I only needed 3 on each side to properly balance my Canon 5D3 (even less for a Canon Rebel or smaller mirrorless camera). Barely even extended the telescopic portion of the pole. I've also had the opportunity to utilise this on larger camera setups (SONY FS7) and balancing only required one extra set of weights and I could easily accomplish the rest with the telescopic pole and adjustable gimbal. It was quite the chore to handhold the rig, and could manage only short takes, but served very well for camera movements while substituting (though not necessarily replacing) jibs, cranes and dollies. The newly designed quick release tripod plate fits my manfrotto tripods and even just makes the stabiliser easier to store and transport. Simply slide off the camera and slide it back on. The tripod plate has numbered markings of it's own so you can properly align the plate where you last balanced the system. Don't be discouraged if your shots don't turn out the smoothest at first. The system responds to movement very easily and you always have to be compensating the system to maintain a perfect horizon line (note that camera sway is much more noticeable when shooting landscapes, when you can see the horizon). It takes a lot of practice but luckily there's a lot of good folks who have made easy to follow tutorials, include the glidecam maestro, Stefan Czech (check him out!).

Buone riprese a tutti!
