Fantastic mid-range smart watch
The media could not be loaded. I've had a number of smartwatches over the years including the original TicWatch Pro and I think it is safe to say that the E3 lived up to and exceeded my expectations. It is at a reasonable price point; more so when I ordered it from Amazon as there was a discount bringing the price down to £139. The watch face is a bit smaller and lighter than my old TicWatch Pro but a little larger than my Garmin Forerunner 245 (see photo). The battery is decent and can easily last 1.5-2 days in my experience of reasonable use; I turned the exercise tracker on while on a 3-hour walk and it depleted about 35% of the battery. It has a good collection of sensors that allow for sports tracking including GPS. The heart rate monitoring works reasonable well and gives me consistent readings with other monitors. The underlying WearOS operating system from Google means it works well with Android - I haven't tried it paired with an Apple device; it also means there is a good selection of apps available. The processor in the watch provides for snappy, responsive interactions with the touch screen. Much more responsive than my old TicWatch Pro.I'm a fan of smartwatches and I find them to be a good way to minimise the amount I take my phone out of my pocket as I can triage and manage the many notifications that I receive. The ability to give quick responses to messages is really useful. Overall I think the E3 is a really nice, functional, well-priced watch that has a lot of functionality and does all of the key things I want it to do. It has a nice balance of smartphone style apps and sport/fitness functionality.

Almost the perfect essential Wear OS smart watch
The Ticwatch E3 is the smaller sibling of the Ticwatch Pro 3 and Pro 3 Ultra. It cuts back on some features, and a lot of the price. The question is, does it make all the right cuts? Or has it cut anything that makes the overshadows the cost advantage? Which is substantial, with the right deals, you can get the E3 for about half the price of the Pro 3 Ultra. I think, overall, it does manage to pull it off, perhaps with one quibble. Here is everything I like about the E3. Despite being all plastic and lightweight, it looks really quite good. It is elegant, where the Pro watches have rugged looks. It goes much better with a more formal attire, while the Pro watches are more at home with jeans. The strap is soft and supple, very comfortable, but shorter than the Pro straps. If you have thick wrists, you might consider swapping it out for a longer strap. Remember, these are 20mm straps, not 22mm, but they are still quick-release and easy to swap out. The back-side of the watch body looks very similar to the Pro watches, except with lots of printed information, which doesn’t matter, no one will see it. It takes the same charger as the Pro watches. The front has a big bezel, if you are spoilt by some other watches out there. But actually, the Pro watches have a wider bezel, they are just sort of masked by the crown dial. I would also strongly suggest a screen protector, as the screen can get scratched. The display is smaller and lower resolution, but even a complicated watchface with lots of detail still looks good and crisp, no issues there. The display can get bright enough for outdoor use, and there is a trick which is not immediately obvious. If you double-click the top function button, the screen gets brighter momentarily to enable to you view it better in direct sunlight. The ambient mode is dim, there is no getting around that. In sunlight, you can’t really tell that there is an ambient watchface on unless you look closely. But indoors it is quite clear. The 4100 CPU that powers this and the Pro watches is the best you can get for Android Wear and likely to remain so for some more years. So there is no fear of obsolescence here. And there is plenty of RAM and storage to keep the watch ticking along for some years at least. The tracking functions are about as good as you can expect from a watch that is not a dedicated fitness watch which also doubles as a semi-smart watch. Heart Rate tracking is fairly accurate and consistent with the Pro watches. Step counter works well and doesn’t terribly over or underestimate steps. There is a built-in stand-alone GPS so you are not relying on the watch for this. There are a large number of sport modes, automatic activity detection, and everything you have come to expect from a full-blow fitness tracker these days. You will quickly disable the automatic work-out or activity detection, as you will with any other watch, they are always too slow to detect the activity start and more often than not guess the activity wrongly. Someone working out with a fitness watch can surely find the energy to select the correct work-out manually. So all sounds great right? All the right compromises to keep the price down to just half of the Pro watches. So what is the one quibble? Simply put, battery life, which is way worse that half that of the Pro watches. The battery in the E3 is smaller than the Pros, and there is no secondary low-power ambient display. So if you have ambient display on, track heart rate and steps at in an active lifestyle, receive a good number of notifications and view the watch as a working professional or socially active person would, then it does not last for a full day. If you are planning to stay out late into the evening, or have a night out planned, then you are stuffed. A watch that doesn’t last 1 full day of active use could put some people off. However, if you turn off ambient display, then it will get you through a full day, so you do have an option at least. I just wish they had kept the same battery size as the Pro watches. That would have made this watch absolutely and totally recommendable. Now, I would only recommend it with one caveat – think about how you will use it, and if you need both an ambient mode and an all-day (say 20 hour) active battery life, because you won’t get both. Other than this one thing, I think it is the perfect entry-level WearOS smartwatch that will satisfy a vast majority of people. If you can remember to put it to charge every night, you will get everything you need from a smart-watch and competant fitness tracker for just a bit over 100 quid.

Incredible Features, Looks Really Good and Unbelievable Value for Money.
The media could not be loaded. I can give this review on the basis of a lot of experience I have with smart watches. I have a Garmin Fenix 6 Pro, which is usually my go to sports/exercise watch. My Garmin is a fantastic watch, although very expensive. However I felt that the features I get from it, required me to pay the high price tag. That was until I found this E3 Smartwatch from Mobvoi! In brief, the Mobvoi Ticwatch E3 is a fantastic all rounder at a really good price. Here are the main reasons I would highly recommend it;The price:This has to be the top reason - the number of features you get with this watch far exceeds the cost when compared to other smart watches. I really was surprised that you can get a watch that pretty much does it all, for such an amazing price. I bought it for £175 and I've even seen it cheaper on a Deal Price. I simply cannot find a smart watch on Amazon that is better value for money when considering the features. The looks:I mainly bought this watch as a day-to-day work horse. I love my Garmin, but that is for sports and I wanted another watch that was just looked good. The photos on Amazon don't do the watch justice. It looks really good on the wrist. It is light, so nice to wear all day long. You can change the strap too very easily. The screen is so good, even when it's in battery saver mode, so on the wrist it just always looks good! The battery life:A huge selling point of this watch is the very good battery life. My biggest issue with smart watches is that I hate it when the battery doesn't last. This was a big reason I chose this watch and it didn't disappoint. If you use the battery saver, you can even get upto 3 days, if you go for essential mode it will last I think weeks! Let's just say, I've never had it run out on essential mode. It's just not something you need to worry about on this watch. The always on:I also like my smart watches to be on, even when I'm not looking at them. I don't really like having to always raise my wrist or touch the screen to turn a watch on, sometimes I just want to glance over at it on my wrist and see the time. I also like it to look like a real watch to other people, not just a black screen. With the Ticwatch, the battery is so incredibly good because of their screen technology, I can easily have the always on display without worrying about battery. You can use it for any sport:I primarily choose a smart watch for sports. As I said, I have a Garmin for this, so didn't buy this watch for that purpose, but more as a general watch day to day. What surprised me was how good this watch is for sport. It has an app for pretty much anything and tracks it very well. I love the fact that it's waterproof and able to track my swimming.Make Payments:I love being able to leave my wallet at home and just use my watch. It syncs easily to your Google account and you can pay for things contactless, just like a card. It's easy to set up, and easy to use.Health features:I love the continuous heart rate monitoring and stress management. It's constantly checking you and again, you don't have to worry about battery. It's very useful to know this data to see how healthy you are and what you can do about it.Fast & easy to use:The watch is responsive and fast. The screen is clear and bright.Everything else:There's not really anything not to like about this watch. It's amazing what you get for your money. You can install any apps you want from Google Wear, including new watch faces. There's even apps testing your hearing, washing your hands reminders, and you can take calls through your phone, on the watch. It does pretty much everything and looks good too.I recommend this watch very highly. It is an amazing all-rounder. It does it all, with a good battery and looks great too. The price for this quality of watch is superb.
