FLA 3D Adjustable Left Thumb Brace, Small - Grey

I have tried 5 other braces for my thumb osteoarthritis with level 1 deformity. This is better than the 2 that were prescribed by hand therapist.1. Strong crisscross bracing on palm surface of hand.2. More SUPPORT and STABILITY at MP joint up to the distal phalangeal joint of thumb to prevent painful adduction.3. No hard plastic/metal over prominence of CMC joint to cause pressure soreness.4. Velcro straps fasten toward thumb side of back of hand so don't catch on things as much and pull open.5. Overall more comfortable and requiring less padding to inner surfaces to customize fit6. Best of all less pain with everyday tasks, like just holding coffee cup!MARCH 2017: wearing brace daily since purchase and ended up SUPER GLUE Velcro straps around thumb and upper back of hand strap, since it kept catching and wearing out. I can slip in and out of thumb slot without having to open and close these 2 straps. I can slip in and out of brace and only have to adjust the lowest strap. Wearing brace full time it gets dirty and undergoes a lot of wear and tear. I place in lingerie bag and throw in washing machine occasionally. Strap at wrist: I slipped a TUBE of stretchy fabric over it to encase the strap closure and this prevents the strap end from catching on things and peeling open. This has greatly helped the wearing ease and helps the Velcro to last much longer! I use a left and right brace but left thumb is in worse condition. I can write, knit and crochet, and everything else in these. I do remove them for food prep for sanitary reasons.July 2019. Update: I have made my braces last almost 2 years by sewing some Lycra swimsuit fabric into a small diameter tube (3/8 inch by 1 inch length and I slip it on the Velcro strap so it encases the end of the closed strap. This prevents all the wear and tear on the strap and it doesn’t catch on anything, and best of all it stays securely fastened. In the picture the fabric tube is navy blue colored and acts kind of like an oversized belt loop.Feb. 2021 still using one of my 3 FLA braces daily and rotate usage. By using SUPER glue on thumb & upper hand straps I am keeping them closed & preserved for 4 years now. The narrow width loop about 1 inch length that I slide over the closure end of wrist end strap really keeps the strap closed and not catching on clothing (it is dark blue in picture and covers the FLA lettering on strap). Actually what is wearing out is the palm side of grey rubbery material. It has developed some cracks that open and expose the inner metal. I notice the price has certainly increased since I originally purchased these!

I’m wearing a large. I measured my hand and the plastic part fits perfect. However the straps were too long, so I adjusted them by cutting and reattaching the Velcro. It works really well for immobilizing and supporting the joint. It’s strong yet allows me to use my hand. I’ve found significant pain relief and support for my EDS. The brace gets uncomfortable after a day of using but I find that with every brace I have, no matter how comfortable. I would highly recommend this brace.

This is a well made very stabilizing thumb splint - which is exactly what I wanted. Its rather comfy to put on and wear. The discomfort for me comes when I try to bend the top of my thumb joint. My thumb is rather short and the top joint hits the bottom of the brace. If my thumb was a bit longer it would clear the brace more and allow me to continue to use a pincher grip or such. Therefore this brace is rather tricky for me to wear and do regular household things, which is what I was hoping to use it for. The positives though is it really braces the joint area and it tremendously helps with the pain. I have several braces. I will use this to rest that joint more, sometimes at bed, typing would work and I'll use other soft sided braces for more household uses. Its a great brace, I just wish my thumb was a bit longer so it clears the top of the thumb grip better. I've loosened the grip a bit (its metal under the rubber) and it helps. I do recommend it though.I'm going to figure a way to pad the top of the thumb brace somehow so it doesn't dig into my top thumb joint and then I can use it while doing household things.

I purchased this for brace because I had developed something called trigger thumb I like this brace for daytime use I had hoped to wear it at night And while using my hands doing housework however when you get your hands wet it makes the straps wet and very uncomfortable to wearIt’s good to wear when you are typing or using a pen doing things that would normally hurt I had hoped to wear it at night as it is vital for me to keep my thumb from bendingIt does not do thatI tried using it at night and unfortunately you can’t control what your hands are doing at night And I apparently rubbed the Back of my hand where the straps are And scratched up my eye pretty badThis is the downside for this bracethe straps on it are very cheap and scratchyThe straps are basic Velcro you can buy at a sewing store for craftsFor the purpose of this brace that kind of inferior material should not ever be usedThey would be better if they used soft neoprene or something equally as soft and comfortable to wear for long hours I do not see them holding up for very long and the way that it’s built there’s not much of a structure they are holding the straps in nor is there anyway to replace them if the straps go there goes your brace

I purchased same product from another vendor. It was too big (I don't think it was their fault) anyway it was too big. Out of the box this product has been Wonderfully Amazing. I almost wore it to bed just wanted to give it a break. I've had this now for like a week & it's still Amazing. Would purchase another but will save up the money. I have palsy in my right thumb from spiraled breaking my arm in 4 places. The thumb hurts sometimes and thus brace helps Sooooo much. Wished I had found this 18 months ago. If anyone knows where I can get a coupon or a coupon code would be Extremely Appreciated.

Just received it. Seems infinitely better than any other splints/braces I have tried. It is so much less intrusive - and feels a lot more secure and supportive than the other ones I had - specifically in the area I need it. All the others were made of some sort of fabric. they were uncomfortable, become hot inside the wrap, they lose shape when used and the velcro loses its grip rather quickly. This FLA 3D allows you to remain active - it can get wet and you can wear it without covering your entire thumb and wrist/ lower hand area. I hope the velcro on the 3D lasts - but the brace itself is clearly better. I am very impressed!
