Loved this book!
I absolutely loved this book! Jodi Adams does a wonderful job telling this story in rhyme. The animals and the train engineer work together to overcome several obstacles on their way to the zoo. This is an inspiring and positive story for children as they learn to work together and persevere in their little lives. The teacher in me loved how Jodi periodically introduced "new" words to her readers with a glossary at the end of the book using a minimal number of words (1-4) to explain the definitions. Christina Wald does a fantastic job with her illustrations! They are absolutely beautiful! I can't wait to read this to my granddaughter.

It's really fun finding the cardinal on each page!
The rhyming story is engaging, offering knew words for children to learn. I want to help my grandson (age 4) learn some new words. So the glossary in the back helps explain some of the lesser known words that are used in this book.

She Love's It!
Bought this because I like trains and my 2 year granddaughter loves books. This has become her new favorite . She now knows the story by heart and reads it (recites it) to herself. The illustrations are lovely, the story well written, but most importantly, a 2 year old little girl loves it!

Great story to read to 2 and 3
I love how when I read with my 3 year old he loves making sound of train and we find the red cardinal on every page. The illustrations are wonderful. We pause and every time we discuss why the lion gets mad. I won’t give it away but it is a great the way the pictures tell more than words like a Jan Bret book. Great job for giving us a great social emotional story.

Beautifully written and illustrated.
This book is a fun book with wonderful illustrations. I bought this book for my grandson's 5 year old birthday and he really liked it. I have to admit I really enjoyed reading it before I wrapped it for him.

It kept my 17 month old nephews attention the whole time.
This book is long, and colorful, keeping the attention of a 17 month old throughout. He was able to see some of the colors, and he was also able to repeat some of the animals in the story.

My train-loving boys adore this book!
From the time I purchased this book for my two sons (ages 6 and 2), we have been reading it on repeat. The repetition of lines, rhyming, and intriguing illustrations make it one of their new favorite train books. It’s light-hearted and includes perseverance and problem solving. I highly recommend this book, especially for children that love trains or animals.
