Feral cats lovedthem
Bought two of these for the feral cats that we caught and had fixed. They are located under the porch roof of our shed (out of the weather, rain etc). We have a camera under that porch and the cats love these shelters during the winter (we use them without the plastic flaps since the porch area has plastic around it).

This House is Perfect for a Garage!
Even though this A frame cat house is advertised as being able to use "outdoors", which it isn't, I am still going to give it 5 stars since I fortunately have a garage and this A frame adorable cat house is perfect for a garage, or even a covered or protected patio. The wonderful heating pad I am able to leave plugged in for long periods of time as it is winter now in the state I live in. A female cat was dumped off next door to me in the spring. I took pity on her and fed/watered her through the spring/summer/fall. As it started getting cold in Oct., I was at a total loss of what to do for Kitty. I put about 4 warm, wool blankets out in my garage and she slept there. I was still concerned as it had turned very cold and I was worried about her. I stumbled across this heated house on Amazon and purchased it in Nov. I love it and Kitty loves it! I put a couple of old rugs over the outside of the A frame and kept the protective covering on in the back of the house. I removed the front plastic flap and with the rugs and a small blanket (only on the outside of the A frame, don't put anything in with the heating pad inside) covering most of the front entrance, it has proven to be a most warm, cozy home for my Kitty and she loves it. As it's been pretty much continuously cold here, I have left it plugged in most of the time. The heating pad does not get hot like the people pads. You can feel it with your hand and it only gets warmer when the cat actually lays on it. A few days I was able to unplug it as it really warmed up, but for the majority of the time, I have left it plugged in. It has been a life saver for me and Kitty and has given me a big peace of mind as I lay in my own warm bed at night, knowing Kitty (Abby she is called now) is warm in her house. I wouldn't advise purchasing this house if you need to place it outside with no protection. It will get wet easily and I'd be afraid of the cat(s) maybe getting electrocuted if the house got soaked & was plugged in. I was able to plug mine in directly into a garage outlet so I didn't have to use an extension cord. If one needed to, buy the big orange extension cords for outside. I believe these would be safe to use. Everytime I come into the garage to visit Abby, she runs into her house and rolls around inside wanting me to pet her. I will be bringing Abby into my house very soon to live and have decided to bring the A frame house inside as well. I don't keep the heat on very high in my house and I have one other cat so I figure they can use the cat house inside as well. It will be great to have it on hand in case any more cats are dumped off in my neighborhood and I would need it again in the future. It is ideal for a garage or patio, somewhere that it will remain dry when it rains and snows. I repeat, it will not last by itself out in the elements but for me with a dry garage, it has worked out beautifully. I'm so happy I found it online!

it took almost a month for the cats to come around
spring-going-on-summer 2017: i have to research this more, but i have heard that jade is cooling, so i plan to get a small jade fir (far infrared) mat to put inside this house that sits on the patio. probably won't put on the heat at all in the summer, and the stones might feel good to lay on. but in the winter, i'll place the mat inside the furry cover for the heating pad, and the cat can stay warm with far infrared heat that will be good for her body. :)latest update: winter 2017: only one cat now, as the two cats ended up not getting along. the Snowshoe spends a lot of time in this house. only the back flap is on, so air can't move straight through, and she likes the other side open. over time she has become more and more attached to spending time in it. really a good purchase. gives my kitty a lot of comfort. in the summertime i leave it unplugged so the mat doesn't heat up when she lies on it. last update--see bottom of review--was winter 2016.**********************************************************i've had this house for a few weeks now. my cats initially wouldn't use it until i removed the flaps, and even then, they didn't spend hardly any time in it, acclimated slow, but i would find them hanging out in it from time to time. it is very sturdy. finally, the older (~1-1/2 years old) snowshoe appears to be using it quite a bit. i have found her in it several times over the last few days. now i'm going to be sneaky and put one of the plastic flaps back and see if she still uses it, because she knows it is a good place to be now. then if/when she continues to use it with one door flapped, i'll add the other door flap! this way, it will have a chance to become a truly warm space, instead of a warm pad in a space where freezing air is flowing through. i am learning that you really have to be back-door with cats, go in round-about ways to achieve ends. i never dreamed i would have to coax cats to occupy a warm space in cold winter months!the Next Week Update: okay, so i put one of the flaps back as referenced above last week. the older cat is still going in the house, went straight into it this morning. i'm going wait a few days, let she and the younger cat get totally used to the flap and the even-more warm environment inside the house, and then, the second flap goes up. on cold days, the space will be contained, and between the heated blanket and their body heat, my kitties will stay warm in the cold weather.early winter 2016 update: both flaps have been up since shortly after the last update, and the cats both use this house regularly now. when the weather warms up, i'll remove the heating blanket and put a cooling mat in its place. very happy with this purchase.

I really love the product but "Spectacular Service" not so spectacular
I was excited when I received the K&H pet house because I have a few outdoor felines who need a warm place to snuggle during winter. So, I was disappointed when it came without the heated bed, fleece cover or chord. It was one of the main reasons I chose this house over others, and I had read good reviews about K&H products. When I reached out to Amazon and they emailed Spectacular Service regarding the missing items, they messaged me and stated they could issue me a partial refund and allow me to keep the item. I am upset that they did not even offer to replace the missing parts as that is all I wanted. I had to call Amazon probably about 6 different times just to get this issue sorted out. They are issuing me a partial refund, which I guess I will be using to buy my cats a heated bed for the house since Spectacular Service just apparently could not replace for whatever reason. My cats love the house and for now I have a cozy blanket in there for them in the meantime until I can get them a heated bed for it. I would recommend this product but just suggest buying it from a different seller.

tested the heating pad as instructed and the pillow was nice and warm
Ordered and received earlier than the estimated time. A breeze to put the house together with velcro tabs, tested the heating pad as instructed and the pillow was nice and warm. With our extreme cold temperatures -30 to -35C without the wind chill we found the temperature inside was too cold for our feral cat. Off to the hardware store for a sheet of 2 inch pink styrofoam 2’x8’. Cut in half and installed under the cat house on top of our deck and put the house about 18 inches back to have a warmer front “porch” on the 4 foot section for sitting in the sun. Cut the second 4 foot piece in half and made a peaked overlay 2’x2’ to cover the A frame. Taped together with outdoor tape to keep in place and allow easy removal if needed. The plastic flaps worked well to let her in and out but also allowed a lot of cold air exchange and wind chill keeping the inside temp quite low on cold days. Ordered two auto closing doors and installed them into 1 inch pink styrofoam cut to fit under the overhang. These work A1 just need to make some space between the wall in order to allow some air exchange and alleviate frosting on the see through doors. Our feral cat is a good size around 11-12 pounds and she fits easily in and out of the small sized doors and has ample room inside. With the alterations we are able to keep her outside house at a warm enough temperature for her even when the outdoor temps drop to the -30 to -35C range. The heated cat house is located on our open back deck up against the side of the house. 4 paws up. Really wouldn’t expect a light weight house to be warm enough here without some extra insulation 4 stars she loves it!

Being put to good use.
Bought this for the outside stray cats, The one cat that's always around to eat started using the house right away. Although the house is big enough for 2 cats or more if they would snuggle, so far only this one cat (who was bullied by the others) has been enjoying the house. I hope it's warm enough for him. I have placed it on the front covered porch under a table and put a heavy mat around it, leaving a bit of space for the back exit. Don't know yet how well this will work when the heavy snow comes along with high winds. Will have to check it regularly to make sure that the heating pad continues to work. The picture is deceptive, check the measurements. The house is actually much longer than it looks in the pic.

A cat's paradise
My cats love this tent. I keep outside during the warmer seasons on my porch, or under a tented tarp on my deck. My cats are outside the majority of the time and this gives them a place to sleep, and keep warm at night - the heated pad is a terrific idea. There was little assembly to it. It is large enough to house 2 cats (one of mine is 14 lbs; the other about half that size). It is a quality product.

The absolute BEST shelter for brutally cold areas!
We now have two of these for the two ferals that come around our house, and it gets them through every winter. (We’ve also managed to trap/spay/release them)The shelter is easy to clean, and nice and warm. I also highly recommend the K&H heated food/water bowls. Great products!

Our chubby cat loves this!
It took our chubby stray a few days to figure out that this was his new bed, but he loves it now! He hasn’t worked out the flaps just yet though (we keep one pinned open for him). But the heated pad keeps him nice and warm. After he sits on it for 10-20 minutes, it heats up to his body temp. Though it says this is ‘outdoors’, it is meant to be located in a sheltered area like a barn, shed, covered porch or garage. It fits one chubby cat or two medium size cats.. maybe three small cats. Veryyyy easy assembly!
