Possible reason for all the Nag Champa knock off incense
If you are looking for the fantastic Nag Champa of the 70's-90's, this is not it. I don't know what is true and what isn't, but apparently following a dispute, the ShrinivasSugandhalaya brothers split the company in two in 2014. An Indian court awarded both sides the right to use existing names and branding. The good ones used to be from Bengaluru, but now I can't find the good ones at all, and all the new stuff seems to say Bangalore and all smells like burning cardboard. Quality has become seemingly inconsistent and wholesalers supply SATYA products with similar names, in varying packaging and totally different content. What you see a photo of may not be what you receive, especially on Amazon. I guess I have to quit buying this until I can give it a sniff test beforehand. It was never cheap either in the past, and shouldn't have been for how good it was. I'd certainly pay much more for the real thing if I could ever find it again.

Don't order from Amazon.com Services Inc.
Be careful who you order from. We've ordered this three times. When the item came from divineproducts or Amaon.com LLC, they were great. The product that came from Amazon.com Services Inc. is TERRIBLE. It smells like burning rubber and hurts the nose and sinus passages.

Decent incense, but I have doubts about its authenticity.
While I've been enjoying this incense, and find that the aroma is pleasant, when compared to authentic Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa I've purchased in the past, this appears to be an imitation, both in appearance and smell. The aroma of this incense has less of a bite than authentic Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa, and seems to have a different base. In fact, for the first few sticks I burned, it didn't seem to have ANY smell - it just smelled like burning charcoal smoak. The appearance of the sticks is significantly different from authentic Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa as well - while the authentic product has an even tan color through the whole stick, this product is noticeably darker, almost as if you're looking at the charcoal core through the incense itself. The thickness of the stick is also noticeably different from that of the authentic product. I've attached a photo of a real Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa stick alongside this product - the real Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa is on top, while the product I received is the burning stick on the bottom.Overall, if you're after a real Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa, that's not what I got. I can't guarantee that you'll get the same.

Not the Nag of Ol'
I use to love this. Then I had a partner that could not tolerate incense in the house so I had to give it up for many years. When I was able to go back to burning it I was so sad to see how different it was. This is not the Nag Champa of old. It is no longer hand rolled, it's super dusty in the box and it no longer smells deep and earthy, cool and calm but like perfume and smoke. Sad. Even the ash looks totally different than it used to. I would recommend Nag Champa Incense From Surya Incense Company if you are looking for something closer to the old version. Surya still hand rolls and uses good quality ingredients.

Extremely Disappointed in this product
FAKE NAG CHAMPA. Extremely Disappointed in this product. The box has a bad print job and the embossed text is off from the print as well. The sticker is not holographic like all real Nag Champa boxes. The smell is way to perfume like and sweet. Do not buy if you are expecting the real thing. I didn't realize until I opened the package and lit a couple. The smell is totally different.

"Alternate" Nag Champa - Not quite a counterfeit, not quite the real thing
I just received this item and it is definitely not the traditional and fully authentic Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa. I could tell before I even opened the Amazon envelope that something was off, this batch smells like some vague combination of soapy citrus and smoke and not at all like the familiar Nag Champa scent that I was expecting. If you are looking for the traditional authentic version - this ain't it.I did some research and discovered that the original Shrinivas Sugandhalaya brothers' company split into two separate entities in 2014. The original Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa is still manufactured only in Bengaluru and is entirely hand rolled in the traditional method. The "alternate" Nag Champa is manufactured in Mumbai using machines and made from similar but not identical raw materials (hence the bizarre and unfamiliar smell).I am including pictures of the Nag Champa I received compared to an empty box of the "authentic" original. The authentic/alternate Nag Champa can be identified without even opening them by looking closely at the two boxes. The authentic Nag Champa lists the manufacturer (Mfrs. on the label, the silver/gilded lettering) as "Shrinivas Sugandhalaya (BNG) LLP". The alternate version says only "Shrinivas Sugandhalaya LLP". The authentic box should have only one address listed in Bengaluru. If there are two addresses, or if the address listed is for Mumbai, it is the alternate version. There are also differences in the taped seal on both packages (pictured) and on the back of the box. The authentic box should have a green label with a leaf that says "Earth". It will also say "Hand Rolled in India". The alternate box does not include the Earth label, and the package says "EXPORT ONLY" and "Made in India". I have been wondering about this for some time because I've gotten these alternate boxes before and just always assumed it was a bad batch. I hope this helps!Authentic/Traditional- Will have the "R" and "C" trademark symbols next to the Satya Sai Baba label heading (front)- Mfrs. Shrinivas Sugandhalaya (BNG) LLP- Address: 1/9, 8th Cross, Magadi Road, Bengaluru-560 023, India- Has a green square with a leaf in it that says "Earth" beneath it (back)- Says "Hand Rolled in India"- Has a gold/red/blue seal with a calligraphy style "SS" on it. The seal should have "Satya" on it in the gold/blue stripes of the seal.Alternate/Iffy- No "R" or "C" trademarks included in the white label (front)- Mfrs. Shrinivas Sugandhalaya LLP- Address: E-105 Ansa Industrial Estate, Sakinaa, Mumbai - 400 072 Factory: No.21 & 22, 8th Cross, Magadi Road, Bengaluru - 560 023, India- May say "TRADITIONALLY (emphasis mine) hand rolled in India"- No "Earth" label (back)- May include an image of the Founder K. N. Satyam Setty, with a seal that lists the Mumbai address (back)- Says "Export Only" and "Made in India" (back)- Has a blue/red seal with block letters (either CC or CS, hard to tell)
