Spiral: From The Book Of Saw

I strongly urge you to reconsider buying this disc
I have just finished this after waiting well over a year to get a copy in proper HD (as opposed to the low bitrate garbage on Amazon Prime Video) and I bitterly regret the purchase to the point I am actually returning the disc.THAT is how bad this is - Chris Rock does a good job with what he has, but Samuel L Jackson phoned his part in as I doubt he has 10 lines of dialogue in all.So what if they used the writers from the last outing (Jigsaw - which was a lot better than this pathetic copycat) and others from the earlier films who really should have known better - this is a terrible, terrible entry in the franchise & deserves to fall into obscurity at the earliest possible opportunity. The 'surprise' ending was so obvious that for the first time in 9 films dare I say that I 'saw' it coming (which was not the case in any of the earlier, superior films) even though there was an attempt to make it seem like someone else this was so blindingly obviously a false lead it literally forced me to look elsewhere - it really was that clumsy. In summary, everything is wrong here - they do not even bother getting Tobin's voice for the game introductions, and what we have got instead is a poor jigsaw copycat with a police fixation instead of something that makes you think about things and even see them in a different way. This film is a lot of things, mostly bad & some just okay but it is NOT a saw film, and for me it is playing on the name - rather like Brian May & Roger Taylor without Freddie Mercury & John Deacon are not Queen, no matter what they call themselves on the posters.

Great addition to the franchise
I’m a huge Saw Fan so thought this was a great movie a bit more violent then the others but I loved the surprise twist in the end and I hope they make another

Saw fan here
I love SAW... Got special releases/editions and all...This felt like a really cheap knock off (despite very nice quality camera footage/VFX)):* bad, uncomfortable to watch acting (except Samuel L. Jackson - he is a legend);* quite odd script - I really can't put on my finger why, but just odd;* somewhat missing this proper ''aha'' moment at the end - somewhat I have guessed who and why in first 1/3 of the movie.I have rented it for £3.49 in SD, it was an ok way to spend the evening, but as other poster(s) indicated - not for SAW series fans.

I what to play another game, just not that one.
Spiral (also known as Spiral: From the Book of Saw) is a 2021 American horror film directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and written by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger. It is the ninth instalment in the Saw film series. The film stars Chris Rock, Max Minghella, Marisol Nichols, and Samuel L. Jackson, and follows police efforts to stop a Jigsaw copycat killer. The original creators of the series, James Wan and Leigh Whannell, as well as Rock and series veteran Kevin Greutert, serve as executive producers.Talks of another Saw installment began after the release of Jigsaw in 2017, with Chris Rock wanting to branch out into the horror genre. The Spierig Brothers, who directed Jigsaw, were interested in returning for another film but eventually decided against it. The project was officially announced in May 2019, with Rock polishing a script by Stolberg and Goldfinger. The rest of the cast joined in July, with filming taking place in Toronto through that month and August.Originally scheduled to be released in May 2020, Spiral was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was theatrically released in the United States on May 14, 2021, by Lionsgate. The film received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the franchise's new direction but were divided on whether it had fully succeeded in reinventing it.Good inclusion to the Saw franchise even if the central mystery is a bit sluggish and it sometimes feels as if the central character played by Chris Rock is just jumping from one scene to the next and it misses out on the creditability of a Tobin Bell who for the first time misses out.

DO NOT WATCH - ABSOLUTELY THE WORST ACTING AND PLOT LINE EVER WRITTEN
This is actually the worst movie I have ever seen in my entire life. Chris Rock is truly the worst actor (along with all his co-stars) and should never be given another serious acting role, he is a Z list actor at the very least. I would give this 0/10 for acting, 0/10 for the plot and 10/10 for wasting 90 minutes of my life on Halloween. This movie is utterly disrespectful to the ‘SAW’ franchise and the director should hang his head in shame. If I could request a refund I would - Please do not watch, the 3.5 stars are a definite con. I was not allowed to give zero stars, hence the one star rating. Utter garbage film.
