Yes, all waterpumps for the Jeep inline 6cyl are reverse rotation (It turns counterclockwise looking from the front), So few water pumps turn clockwise that reverse rotation is really standard rotatio, if you look closely at the photo of the impeller you will see the letter "R" stamped on it.

Q: What size is the threaded hole that a hose would go to the intake or heater from?

3/4 inch standard. DORMAN makes that replacement part

Q: Is this one for a 98 jeep cherokee xj.? I ordered one before and ended up getting a water pump for a eclipse lol

It fit my 2001 XJ fine, since your 1998 XJ uses the same engine it will fit.
