Q: What size insert pillow goes with 17inch cover

You can add 18 x 18 or 20 x 20 pillow. 20x 20 will fit better bc it makes the cover full and not leave any space. The full pillow looks better than a flat pillow.

Q: Do these pillows have a zipper closure? If not, what kind of closure do they have?

No, they do not have a zipper closure. Instead They are neatly finished with a sewn over-flap seamed opening in the back. The pillows I also bought through Amazon fit great in the covers.

Q: Is this the actual cushion or cover only?

Cover only, you have to stuff the pillows yourself . It looks great and I get many compliments on them !
