Nice stone bookends, but the dye used on the ends transfers easily.

I’m honestly a little upset. I have used Amazon for years and never have I felt the need to leave a negative review. The product I received has a very strange smell and is covered in blue dye. Ever time I touch the rocks my hand are smelly and covered in dye. So, I request a return. Which the seller approved, however, I have to pay to send back a “damage” product. Even though it says “free returns” before you buy. On top of all this the rocks look nothing like the advertisement. Do yourself a favor and buy rocks like these on Esty (more natural product that cost about the same) or buy from a more honest seller.

unfortunately they were sold out of the heavier stones when I purchased and had to get the 2-3 pound believing it would be ok for children’s book shelf however they are not really heavy enough to work completely. Bigger books that will stand on their own are fine but as you can see the very thin disney book on the right that don’t stand well without support just tip the stone over so definitely would need heavier. The books made it too within minutes as shown in pictures. I was really hopeful these would work per reviews and what I read but sadly not. They are pretty I just needed heavier ones I guess so if you plan to use for functionality definitely go heavier.

Hi everyone - I updated my post because after re-reading the description is says decorative but I took it to mean 'pretty'. I put books in between the agate rocks and it is decorative/pretty. I encourage you if you buy it to use it for books that do not need assistance in keeping them up. Possibly your favorite hardcover novel. I used four books that could stand up on their own. I may decide on different books but wanted to update my review since I was going to keep them. ***old post**I bought the bookends thinking they would be pretty and hold my magazines as well. Well its just pretty. I would return but it will cost more to return than just keeping them. I will try and find a nice book to put in the middle of them so that they are showcased. I was really wanting bookends to hold up my work magazines/chronicles and be pretty.

These bookends are lovely. The center color is a rich black, and the crystals have a light brown tint. The agates (together) weigh between 6 and 8 pounds, so they are sturdy enough to hold up about 6 heavy books. There are 2 small chipped places that are not too visible, and probably occurred in shipping; however, the bookends could be packaged in a thicker box with more bubble wrap. I ordered these heavy black agates to hold up my set of darker books, and to add color to my white brick mantle board over the fireplace. I am very pleased.
