This is the one I've been looking for!
The Coast XP9RI've bought probably 20 flashlights over the last 10 years for my job, from Walmart/Coleman specials to tactical-this-and-that.I really like this flashlight. The size is great, fits well in the hand and is comfortable to hold. I love that the adjustable beam has a lock function, most adjustables just slide up and down so when you remove them from a belt holster they would change what you had set. With XP9R, if you set it for beam or flood, it stays there unless you change it.Normally when you get into "mid-range" tactical lights ($30-70), they start making giant lamp housings and/or they look ugly, or they have features that nobody really needs. If you're breaking auto glass more than once in a lifetime, you probably also carry a standard window punch. You'll probably never use a flashlight for self-defense on its own.I keep it in a leather belt holster meant for a streamlight strion. I know Coast sells flashlight holsters but I don't want nylon on my duty belt.Thankfully haven't dropped it yet, so durability has not been tested. Maybe if I buy a second one, I'll put it through some real abuse (drop tests, knocking on doors, etc) and make a video or a real review.Cons:The battery has to be completely removed from the unit to charge. The charging port is directly on the battery. It does take two CR-123A (double check this, folks) as a backup. Coast could sell this directly with one spare battery so you could always have one charging.I wish Full Power was the first setting instead of the second click. It is definitely bright and throws light down the block.I severely dislike lanyard holes on flashlights.

Lots of bright light!
Bright. Good size. Solid build. Stays charged for a long time. Bought a second one!

Good product but looks like a used unit.
Already Scratched right out of the box. Functionality is good but disappointed. Don’t have the time to return and get a replacement.

Bright, easily rechargeable
This flashlight is ideal because it is modestly bright and has a cute battery that has a built in USBC charger. Remove the battery from the flashlight, attach a USBC cable, attach the cable to a wall wart and the battery will charge. The battery has an led that shows you when the charging is done. The flashlight will also take standard batteries too. This has become my bedside flashlight. This is not a super-bright flashlight. The light is bright enough so you can find things or find your away around the room without tripping. It’s rated at 1000 lumens

versatile.
only 1 of 4 lights that coast makes which takes an 18650 or 2x cr123. waaay better than aaa which leak and cause unreliability in a plastic adapter w too many contact points. plus it comes with rechargeable coast zx850 with c charger which 18650 equivalent. must take out to charge. cons, nice if it came w wall charger for this price and the lanyard is kinda of weak, elastic thingy. doesnt seem like 1200 lum bc i also bought the energizer x1000 which seems a little whiter and brighter. its cheaper at 28 but nonadjustable, rechargeable/aaa. overall pretty good and compact but the best part is cr123 compatible so i will keep both. ultrafire is another 18650 similar flashlight and comes w 2 batteries for 27 but no lanyard.
