Nice lap blanket!
Purchased these as lightweight lap blanket for my back patio furniture. Like most fabrics coming from China, they did smell.. but after a wash in the washing machine (recommend putting them in an accessory bag), and drying them loose in the dryer, they came out just fine. Recommend washing and drying by themselves. Feel is soft and color is a good neutral. Would recommend.

My use may not match yours
I bought it for my cat. He loves to hide and ambush. The tassels are a fin thing to chew on. Since it's a natural fiber I am not worried about him enjoying it.
