I use these in my music classes with ages 3-5. Great tone quality; bars are purposefully easy to remove in order to change pentatonic keys. For this reason I would not recommend these as a toy, but rather as a quality instrument for music instruction!

Nice sound and design but it the keys snap out easily so handle with care and keep away from babies cause once they discover how easy it is to take the keys out they never stop.

The bars don’t stay on if you move or invert this at all. Sounds great if you don’t mind constantly repositioning the bars.

The tone on these is lovely.I use them in my music studio.They are used by lynn Kleiner of music rhapsody, she is the one who introduced them to me.The bars remove and replace easily for use in Orff activities ( eg. setting up a pentatonic scale)The kids Love them. They often choose them over my $$$$$ Orff xylophones and metalaphones!The change to rainbow coloring is fantastic!Now they can be used with Music Mind Games (Michiko Yurko) GENIUS!This looks like a toy glockenspiel but it is a very nice musical instrument.I use it with age 3 and older.Some precocious 2 year olds ,maybe, but it is not a toddler toy and should be treated as such.If you just want something to bang on that has horrible tone, but doesn't fall apart when treated roughly there are lots of other instruments. This glockenspiel provides a quality musical tone an endless musical opportunities .LOVE IT?
