Van Gogh: The Complete Paintings

Taschen is known for their art books with great reproduction. This softcover edition is dull. I have two copies of the softcover and one hardcover. I am returning the last softcover I got cause its so mediocre. The colors in the two softcover volumes I have are pretty much the same but they are significantly different than the hardcover. I assume the hardcover is the more accurate one to the paintings. And the colors are richer. So if there is nothing other than this volume to satisfy your need for Van Gogh, then at least get the Hardcover which in addition to better printing quality, has slightly larger reproductions of the paintings.

I bought this book in 2012, and since then, I look forward to the holidays to observe, read and paint from it. The book is true to its title- the complete collection of paintings in true colors - the pictures are very high resolution and true to the colors/details that even a 5”x7” photo from the book presents immense details from Van Gogh’s art. I could relate all the details as seen in the book when I visited the Van Gogh immersion experience (virtual, in person) last week. This book did not miss any details of the strokes that I could observe in the larger than life version.Being an amateur and hobby artist, I’ve attached a few of my paintings in various mediums based on photos in this book.

If you like the art of Van Gogh or if you collect art books, then this one is a must have. I spent the entire evening yesterday just looking at his paintings. Very good to have all of his work collected intoone big thick book.

The paintings in this book are beautifully reproduced. Colors are vibrant and brushstrokes are shown with great detail. The book has over 700 pages, with color prints on most pages. I have several other Van Gogh books, but this is the best.

Small but nice picture and description

it is 8 x 10 1/4"..........it has 740 pages......it is FULL of color photos of Vincent's art work......it seems like almost every page has a color photo on it.....I'm VERY HAPPY with this book

The book is very gently used and truly looked new upon receipt. I am very happy with my purchase. I teach Psychology at an Art College and wanted a good biography of VanGogh with good history of his art. In particular, I was hoping to find examples of his self portraits for a course that I teach on Psychology of Perception. This book is more than I hoped for. The reproductions of the art are very good and the writing is interesting and informative. I recommend this book and this provider.

The photographs are not particularly sharp or defining. I was disappointed with that, but the storyline was excellent.

Really impressed with the condition of this book, which has just arrived..Very well packaged, no complaints at all. All I need to do is enjoy the book, and I know I will..

O livro é belíssimo, com cores vivas e bem detalhado, apenas peca na letra pequena e em alguns erros de português, fora isso é um grande livro.Uma pena a noite estrelada ser apenas uma jacket e não a capa com eu esperava.O livro chegou em perfeitas condições e bem rápido (cerca de uma semana), a Amazon segue sendo minha primeira escolha.

Actually there are something like 1920 pictures - including sketches etc - but the most complete selection at a cheap price for your slightly more interested than normal punter. Works that you would hever normally see are great and it makes you wonder who chooses what goes in the usual books on him.
