Wheres Micheal?
About halfway through this, all doubt about buying it gone.Last time I binge watched this was on streaming. The first several seasons were SD 4x3.But being one of my favorite shows I finally bought the bluray set.The SD episodes are zoomed in for 16x9, and are in HD. Big improvement. The default should be 5.1 instead of stereo so you have to change that every disc change. For some reason Micheal Shanks is not on the cover, Corin Nemic is.Being VEI produced the discs are in these wallet type holders, very handy. And the plastic case is tough. And good thing, there is a dent in the back. But no big deal. The discs are in perfect condition.Haven't gotten to the episodes yet that are native HD. If they are done as well as the first five years It would be great.Great way to spend part of your summer

Plays well
I was hesitant on buying this as I saw some bad reviews saying the discs didn't play. I am almost half way through this and haven't found an unplayable disc yet. Some also said the auto play feature didn't work. I find it works well if you are watching the disc from beginning to end. If you are trying to play from the second show on the disc then the auto play does not work. However this is not a real big issue for me. These discs do play here in the USA on a regular player as well no special type player needed. If you like Stargate then yes I do recommend these.

The Box of DVDs
This purchase was because I like the early series. Quality of recordings are very good, no complaints

If you own the original DVDs, read this.
If you own the original "fat" DVD sets and are trying to decide if you should purchase this, the answer is: Maybe.Picture Quality:The original box sets have more detail, but also have more grain, especially the early seasons. This new set has used a filter to reduce the grain which makes the overall picture look clearer, but also loses some details.I have attached some screenshots for comparison. The first two pictures (from the pilot) show the difference between the old set (left) and this new set (right). You can clearly see the loss of detail on Jack's face in the first, and in the trees in the second, but also the reduction of grain. However, this isn't the only consideration! The older DVD set is encoded at 30fps interlaced, while this newer set is encoded at 24fps progressive. My third picture of the opening credits shows the difference here. In the original DVD set (left) you can clearly see the banding caused by the interlacing, which is absent from the new set (right). Again, the new set shows less fine detail and looks a little blurred, but also cleaner and with no banding. So which one is better? There is no simple answer. I dislike the loss of fine detail, but appreciate the 24fps and progressive scan of the new set. I will also add that is hard to notice the loss of detail while actually watching the video at a normal viewing distance vs a still image 2 feet away on a computer screen.Audio:Early seasons of the old DVDs contained only 2 channel audio, while the new set contains both the 2 channel and a 5.1 audio mix for all seasons. The older set contained audio languages other than English, while the new set contains only English audio.Subtitles:The old DVDs contained only Non-English subtitles, with only Closed Captions in English. The new set contains only English subtitles.Special Features:The new DVDs appear to contain the same special features as the old sets, along with an extra disc with additional featurettes.Issues:Other reviewers have reported issues such as incorrect episode order, duplicate discs, and discs "freezing" during playback. The episode order on the new DVDs is the same as the older DVD sets. This is the "correct" episode order. Several episodes originally aired out of order and thus you find the discrepancy between "aired order" and "DVD order."My set did not contain duplicate discs, all discs were accounted for.As for the reports of discs freezing, I did not encounter this. HOWEVER, I believe the reason others have had this issue is because some (not all) of the discs in this new set contain both "Structural Protection" and "Bad Sector Protection," which are additional security features added to the standard DVD encryption. Both of these protections are rare for exactly this reason: They are known to cause playback issues in some DVD players. They are basically intentional defects in the disc intended to fool copy software to prevent copying the discs but they can also fool legitimate DVD players and cause playback problems.Final Thoughts:I really wish the powers that be would pay to rescan this show in HD and release a Blu-ray set. Until then, this is likely to be the best set available, and I will most likely be using it over my old set. However, with the loss of some detail along with the (potential playback issues) I I rate it 4 stars instead of 5.

Loved the tv series
All the discs play and it was all stargate Sg-1. The only thing I could have wished for was that it had been in order, LOL instead of how it was done on tv. To me, the discs played well, but as long as I can see pretty clear I won't notice the quality.

Great Replacement for DVD Collectors
My old DVD Collectors edition has some scratches in it, so I got this to replace it. Episodes are much clearer, though in older seasons it does make the CGI noticeably worse. Only issue is that Lost City Part 2 (last episode of Season 7), the audio commentary is out of sync with the episode, by about a minute, starting at the beginning of the opening credits.

Stargate SG-1(Gold Gate Version) - Bluray Review
I had been thinking about picking this set up for along time but reviews around to much DNR and surround sound issuess had put me off. However my wife got me these as a surprise for my birthday, I must say its been a pleasant surprise. The video quality for an upscaled set is great, yes there is some DNR but I'm watching on a 65inch LG OLED and this is best the shows looked compared with my dvd sets. The audio issues must have been fixed as I am on season 2 and I get full surround sound and it doesn't appear to be a bad sound convertion as voices only come from my front speaker and when there is gun fire or energy weapon fire I hear it from behind me in different directions. Sound is great from what I have heard so far.If you are a fan of this show don't let the negative reviews put you off.

Comoact wallets and not standard blu ray cases and does not include Ark of Truth/Continuum
Upgraded to blu ray as some of my standard DVDs were skipping so needed to get completed series 1 to 10.So far discs are alright from what I've checked so far, also you have to get Ark of Truth and Continuum separately as they are not included with the rest of the seasons that completed SG1.Box arrived damaged and torn at the top, be aware this will come from the US so must have a multi regional player, also the front cover has a character that doesn't appear til the end of season 5 into season 6 so very sloppy for not researching the major key character there from the start and gets shifted onto the back.
