Great, not too bulky, yet very protective case - Just avoid Amazon shipping!!
For the money especially, this is a great case. Unlike the defender series or others like it this doesn’t have the P.I.T.A. two-sided case that locks together and is difficult to remove. Some reviews say it’s hard to put on, they’re clearly doing it wrong as it’s VERY easy. It’s a 2 part design, so while it comes together, it’s key to put the rubber part on the phone before snapping the hard plastic cover in place. No doubt people saying it’s a tight fit tried both at once. That’s more difficult and puts strain on the plastic. I’m the worst about dropping my phone. ai must have dropped it (iphone 8) at least 75-100 times minimum, and I don’t even worry about breaking anything anymore. The lip of it sticks out just enough to protect the screen, and the dual layering is ultra shock absorbent. It’s also pretty thin considering the amount of protection. I gave a 4 for durability and sturdiness as over time the outer plastic snapped on me and the inner rubber cover has a few worn areas, but at $20, replacing wasn’t particularly bothersome and it certainly lasted a good 6-9 months of hard use - better the case than my screen! Still a 5 in total as sometimes something has to break, and so perhaps it’s better being a little less sturdy. To anyone asking, of course it fits a 7, there is no big difference in the shape of 8 and 7. Idk if the lip would protect the plus as well since the screen is bigger, but that’s an overall risk the Plus phones have. Finally, I wish I could rate Amazon delivery separately. If you live in a city apartment building or even a house and won’t be home, they don’t bother reading delivery instructions (which always has info to access my mail room / lobby). It’s probably Amazon’s fault for having impossible schedules, but the drivers will *sometimes* try to buzz once (not always), then ignore the delivery instructions and leave the box outside if you’re not home or can’t answer. When I wondered where my replacement case was, a quick review showed some lady walking by, noticing the pile of boxes left, and took a couple small packages on top before walking quickly off, one of course was mine. Almost more infuriatingly, customer service put it down to “delivery error” and said they’d blame the shipper.. yet Amazon is the shipper. So they blame themselves and do nothing to fix it, and outsourced customer service means people that can only answer a few basic questions before they get confused and off script. This time they promised me they were working with delivery drivers to fix the problem, yet it’s been happening for at least 2 years. If my neighbors didn’t look out for each other and bring in anything left outside, much more would have been stolen by now. And still they have my sensitive door access info, which I don’t give out lightly.. and never use it. How it’s cheaper to replace these items than just fix the problem is beyond me. My advice, if 1-day delivery is an option, is to buy it alone so as not to make the $35 minimum and let UPS handle it, since their drivers would never leave packages out on a city street (they also take note of info like door codes, how crazy). It’s to the point where if I see Amazon shipping I dread it and have to try to stay home. At the very least a notification saying the package is outside for anyone to take would be a start. That’s enough about Amazon shipping, just on my mind since the first order got stolen. UPS safely brought the replacement though

Well made and tough
The Otterbox is a more robust cover for my phone. I know it has better protection now, extending the phone’s useful life!

Just what I wanted!
I’m a fan of being able to get my phone in and out of my pocket quickly and easily, while not being unprotected against impacts by whatever! This is the perfect case to fit both of these needs. It’s not obnoxiously large and overbuilt, so it goes in and out of the pocket with ease, yet, when it gets accidentally dropped, it’s generally not a problem. Unless you’re particularly unlucky and your phone drops face down on very sharp rocks, it’s probably going to be fine.

Great case, but watch your charging cable.
I see the case has undergone a slight re-design since my original one. It come with in soft inner rubber shell with an outer hard rubber shell. I guess that's to better absorb impact. The original one they were molded together. Now the inner shell appears to be removeable. That said, it seems to be well made. It's a tight fit to get the phone in. The buttons line-up where they should, so they are functional. Someone mentioned in another review that they liked the dust cover for the charging port. For me, it's a a love/hate relationship. I love the idea of keeping it closed when not charging, but since the "hinge" part of the flap has a strong reflex to close, I have to keep my phone motionless while charging or the pressure the lid has will cause the cord to pop-out just enough to stop charging without visual queue to know it happened. I actually get better results on a cheaper and thinner cord, but then it wears out the cord faster. So, for sturdiness, I give this 5 stars. But overall, due the the aforementioned charging issue, I give it 4 stars. Also, the outer case is a bit slippery, I wish it had better hand grip material, but workable if you know that.

Amazing (typical) Otterbox performance
I work in trades so I wanted something that would protect my phone but not make it feel like I have a scrap 2x8 in my pocket. Also being in trades it has gone through its fair share of abuse and after having this for a little over a year now the only damage I can report is some cosmetic scratches, dings, a small non important piece of plastic as well as the rubber flap that goes over the charging port ripped off (though I'm to blame on most of that...). Long story short I told myself I would get a new phone when my current iPhone 8 dies. In desperate attempts to speed that up without being too blatant (as I've now had this phone for easily 6-7 years now and I'm ready for a new one) I've thrown this thing across rooms, out of second story windows, off roofs and ladders, etc. I think you get the point... Fortunately (or unfortunately) it has protected my phone through it all. The only things I have against it though is that the opening for the charger does give some trouble to the thicker aftermarket chargers (e.g. I have a Ryobi lightning charger that's thicker to supposedly protect it but it still charges with some "convincing"). In an attempt to handle that I ripped off that rubber flap that I mentioned before (no, that solved nothing but I felt better in the end). NOTE: It actually was starting to rip off slowly through use about 6 months in but I just expedited that process. The other point is that after a year of use (and abuse) its texture has gone pretty smooth so the grip isn't anything to marvel at but it does its job. I somewhat handled this by cutting a bunch of grooves with a utility knife but I can understand others not wanting to follow suit. TL;DR - Doesn't impede in screen or button usage. Great protection in a smaller and sleek design. May have some problems with charger clearance if you have really bulky aftermarket chargers. Notes for the picture: Mostly here to show the missing rubber flap that would usually cover the charging port. There was a think plastic piece that would go right below it and create a hole that the flap would fit into but that broke off as well. Most damage is through my abuse (for example the bottom left corner) but for the most part it's still in working condition. You can also see my "custom texturing job" I did on the back lol. Does it look pretty? No. Is that my fault? Absolutely.

Sturdy and stylish!
My last case was an Otterbox symmetry for the iPhone 7. I’ve used that case for two years on my iPhone and that case kept it well protected over the years and to which that case has also held well to this day. I decided to try out a different style (since this was nearly half-off on prime day.) I can honestly say that I am very happy with the style and protection that the Otterbox Commuter provides. This is one of my favorite cases I’ve ever owned and I have gone through a lot of them. It is just the right size for me and it fits great in your hand and doesn’t add too much thickness. It’s also not as bulky as the Otterbox Defender, so it slips in and out of your pocket pretty easily. I also like the inside rubber casing which makes it feel secure and snug. Style-wise, it looks classy and unlike the Otterbox Symmetry, it displays the Apple logo on the back which adds a bit more tastefulness to the case. This is one of the very few cases that offer sturdy protection and looks good while doing it! If I had any criticisms of this case, I would recommend that Otterbox should have centered the display hole in the back better. The logo looks like it is more prominent on one side. This case also comes with an extended piece of rubber to cover the charging port when not in use. It does tend to become a little bit of a nuisance having to unhook it every time to charge or plug headphones. I also feel like over time the extended rubber will lose grip and will eventually protrude from extended use. Lastly, this is very minor, but the back part of the casing is made from a hardened plastic material that doesn’t provide much hand grip, especially if you have sweaty hands. Overall, I highly recommend this case.

Is a decent case and have had no issues.
I read a lot of negative reviews about this case and really unsure why. I was hesitant to purchase because of the many bad reviews on here but kind of glad i did purchase it. When it arrived, it was an easy install. Slip the rubber on first then the plastic cover and away you went. I do have the iphone 8 not the plus just was anyone wondering and the quality of the case feels good. It doesn't come with a screen protector as i would have liked it to but you could always add one and there is significant amount of room around the phone screen. The buttons on the sides are easy to press and doesn't require significant force to press. In addition, the loud/silent tab is easy to flip as it isn't too deep where you are digging for it. Another review commented on the charging port to be small? I have had no issues with the size of the charging port. The cover of the port is easy to flip down and plug the cord into the bottom with space around for the cord. I do wish the case had a little more grip on the sides but for me it's alright. I had dropped it (several times) and screen and the back is still intact without an issues. Overall, the case is a durable case. The reviews mention a lot of negatives and i am really unsure. I have had no real issues such as the fit, durability, or quality. I think it might be the person because in my own opinion i think it was a good buy and would buy again when i get a new phone.

Very Nice iPhone 8 Case
This is the second Otterbox case that I've bought. This is a two-piece construction that holds the phone very securely. the outer plastic/case is a little on the slick side, but the inner rubber has some texture for grip. Fits nicely in the hand without adding extra bulk to the phone. All the holes match up very well to the iPhone 8. Buttons are tactile. Overall, very happy with the product.
