This is a pretty fun and hygienic way of ridding your house or deck of flying bugs It uses plain table salt, you just have to be careful not to get it in your plants that don't like salt. This is cleaner than a bug zapper, which totally disassembles the poor bug and then you have to clean up the mess. This seems to be a quick and humane way of killing the pest. It does work on carpenter bees but you have to shoot them several times and it basically tortures the poor creature. A bug zapper works better on the bigger bugs. I use this more for the kitchen fruit flies in the early summer when they seem to come out of nowhere.

I must say: inside the top 10 of my all time purchases! It will kill flies, carpenter bees at about 3 feet. No damage to most objects. Don't shoot at eyes, painted metal, glass or electronic screens. I shot myself in the palm at 2 inches to test. It stings like blowing sand on the beach but no injury. Most other items are relatively safe. Much better and more fun than the traditional swatter. I use this at my barn where I have animals and the flies are horrendous. Also can run off the barn swallows without hurting them. Carpenter bees are notorious for eating barns and hard to control. This makes it fun for me and my 4 children. I would even be interested in one with 3x power. It's a novelty for most but very useful for those in rural areas. I am planning to by 5 more for my family crew. Not yet sure how long it will hold to wear but that doesn't matter to me. It has already worked wonders for my situation. I hope the inventor is planning a next level build. I would be very interested!

Great product! Been blasting bugs and works great!

First the cons. I feel like this is expensive for what you get. It is well made but overall I think the price is $10-20 too expensive. The second con I have is that you have to actually use the sights. Not sure I would call this a complete con but I think some people just like to point and click. Now that you know that you actually have to use the sights let’s go over the pros. The first is when you do use the sight it’s almost a guaranteed toll hit. I say almost because you have to factor in if you got enough salt loaded and your own skills/learning curve to aim this thing. Second pro is that its soooooooo much fun and satisfying to blast flies with this thing that you could be outside for hours doing it. Overall I would recommend and I don’t think I’m going back to a flyswatter. Also the salt doesn’t really bother me and vacuums up easily.

I purchased this as a gag gift for my dad. As an avid hunter in his younger years, he often misses the "good ol' days" now that his health has declined and he can no longer hunt. He enjoys sitting on his patio, but lately the flies have been terrible. So this was obviously, the perfect gift. However, I had no idea how much joy and entertainment he would get from this thing! He loves sitting on his patio every day hunting bugs - it has turned hours of tv-watching and boredom into staying outside and inviting his neighbor over for bug hunts! It's easy to use, although the only complaint I have is that it is hard for him to cock the gun. Although he did say he hopes he's gaining some strength in his arms from using it so often!

Ok, I'm 63 years old and I Wish this was out when I was a kid. Man, this is Quality Entertainment at its best. Way better than burning ants with a magnifying glass..lol My wife is away and when she gets home and Sees it, im sure she's gonna end my life but in the Meantime, I'm on a mission to eradicate every fly from the planet. If there are no Fly's near you right now, you can thank Me. Lol As far as the Salt to use, I've tried two kinds so far. Iadized table salt seems to work the best so far, I tried kosher salt and yes, it does work but you Miss more, think of it like this... Table salt is like Bird shot ( more pellets per shot) and Kosher salt is like Buck Shot( bigger pellets but less). I've ordered the Bug -A-Salt "Salt" but it hasn't arrived yet. If this came Standered with a Laser, Man, you'd be the Terminator of Fly's! The Flyminator! You could Also use it as a Meat Seasoner... Walk up to your dinner guest and ask if they would like some Salt on their steak, then BLAST! Just never aim near the face or eyes. Thanks again. I Love it.
