Can these be used on plastic sheeting ?

I don't think you could use them on plastic sheeting. I thought about doing that, but decided the wind would tear them out of the plastic.

Trying to estimate for 12x24. How far apart to place? How many are needed?

I placed mine over a 10x10 area and spaced them about 24inches apart.

Could the little piece that attaches the two disks be cut off so it can be placed anywhere on the screen?

Probably because when you press the 2 disks together the hold is pretty tight and had to pull apart.

What size is the loop hole? I'm going to use it to hang up on wire rope so I ca retract as needed

I hung mine on a wire as well and I’d say it’s about 1/4 inch wide.
