Dark Blue

I have been a fan of Jim Rotondi's playing for several years and this is one of his finest efforts to date. The album features a few standards and some excellent new music. The ensemble is extremely tight and the improvisation is excellent. The trumpet sound is outstanding and very well recorded. Highly Recommended.

A day after its release, I heard "Going to the Sun" from this album on "All This Jazz", a great local radio program in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Immediately purchased and wasn't disappointed. Rotondi and group somehow speak directly to me. Love it.

So nice...words like straight ahead, post bop, and virtuoso come to mind....it swings, at time poignantly, and is a delight

Jim Rotunda has it all - clear sound, technique and creativity. He is one of the best contemporary jazz trumpet players in the world.
