Cheating & lying is all forgivable if he loves you really
I was not a huge fan of the writing style which was kind of on-the-nose in a lot of places, although the author can definitely write stellar banter. The concept could have been great; the struggling writer whose dismayed to discover that reconnecting with her ex is what makes her writing work again but is willing to try it for the sake of her book, and there were flashes of what could have been great. However, that's not enough to save this book. My first concern was the way the MCs friends and family were throwing her at the LI despite knowing they'd had a bad break up in the past. My second was the continual references to the fact the MC *needed* to be settling down soon because she was running out of time to have babies, the fact she should have given past exes "more of a chance" because they were perfectly nice guys, and casual judging of weight and appearance popping up all over the place which kinda undermined the MCs half-hearted claims she was happy with her body.(spoilers unavoidable from here)And then the twist was that the LI, while getting it on with the MC and even talking about moving to the city to be with her, was engaged the whole time to someone else - not just anyone else but the woman he (supposedly) cheated on her with the first time around. Then he tries to blame it on the fact he was settling because he'd resigned himself to the fact no one was going to match up to the MC after he lost her back in college and just loved the MC too much to have resisted, literally saying "What was I supposed to do" when talking about the fact he was engaged to this other woman. And then, how do we overcome this in order to get our HEA? Well, the MC's friends all tell her he just made a mistake and he really loves her and she should forgive him. What the hell friends act like that? And basically, that's what happens. She decides they love each other so much she can overlook the fact he's a lying, cheating scumbag, and that's supposed to be our resolution.Just save yourselves.

A cute, quick read!
This is such a cute read! I loved that the author with a Bookstagram account angle was something she was proud of and everyone in her life knew about it and supported her. Kara meeting up with Ryan again in the lead up to her best friends wedding was cheesy but it works for the story! I like that she talks to Ryan about the books and he gets it! And using her new book as foreplay was pretty hot 🥵There is a part of this book that did irritate me revolving around Ryan, but I don’t want to give any spoilers but I do recommend checking trigger warnings if you need to.Despite this I did love this 2nd chance romance story with a lot of misunderstanding and angst, and I recommend this super cute quick read.

entertaining enough
Nothing much to say about Talk Bookish To Me by Kate Bromley. It was an entertaining read with very funny bits in it and lots of bookstagrammer highlights. A book about books, maybe.I wasn't invested in the historical romance subplot because I barely read that genre and if I do I rather read a full book. The first part of this book was super entertaining and then it took a turn that made me go WTF until the end. Like, how a woman that not only is super funny and self-sufficient but comes across as strong and independent ends up being completely the opposite? I don't like it when this happens and especially not how it happened in this one!

Hilarious and heartwarming!!
This book was absolutely perfect!! Laugh out loud funny with characters that you can’t help but love! The friendships were just as well developed and beautiful as the romance which made it even better. I will definitely read all of Kate Bromley’s future books if they are anything like this!!
