Q: What is the box made of? Also, the single reviewer above is not using the liners. Would not using the liners cause in increased odor and/or warping?

The box is made of a fairly rigid plastic. I am also not using the liners and I don't notice an increase in odor. Using or not using the liners would not cause warping of the box. When not using the liners, all you have to do is clean out the box the way you would any other litter box. It's design is great, especially if you have cats that like to urinate up the sides of a box.

Q: What does the inside bottom of the pan look like? Is it totally smooth or does it have ridges/recesses that you have to dig and scrape out?

The box is smooth as is the bottom. No ridges or recesses. I've never had a prob with litter sticking to the sides or bottom. I use the light clumping litter.

Q: What is the height of the front wall before the opening for the cat to enter (8", 9" or less)?

The front panel where the opening is is 16 1/2 high and 14 wide. (The top lid sticks out a bit) The opening where the cat enters is 8 wide and 10 high and it is 6 1/2 inches from the ground. Approx measurement because I have a mat under mine so my tape measure didn't quite hit the floor. Hope that helps.

Q: I have an 18 year old senior girl. Looking for a high back litter box with a low opening. Any suggestions ?

Wow 18 years old congratulations - this is the highest back litter box I think you'll find it's on solid piece you clean it with a removable cover - the opening is 7" from the ground not sure if it's gonna be to high for your girl - but honestly I really do love this litter box - good luck
