Will this work with a cross bow?

Blastcloud targets will work with a crossbow, but you will want to use Bludgeon heads instead of field tips or broadheads and shoot through the end caps instead of the side of the target for best results. Video is with my compound bow and Saunders Bludgeon heads at 10 yards. A good hit will result in a nice sized cloud of color. A poor shot that just nicks the target will result in a small amount of released powder, but the target will be able to be reshot. Best to practice on the Mystery Target! Thanks! Best, Nick

Is it possible for the target to not work at all or be defective?

The short answer is "NO". These targets contain a very fine and vibrant color powder inside of a paper shell. To "not work at all" would require completely missing the target. However, the size of the BlastCloud will depend on what you choose to shoot the target with, how close you are shooting, and how accurate you shoot it. 12 gauge slug + 10 yards + direct hit = BIG explosion. .22LR + any range + any hit = small explosion.

Will this work fine with a vertical bow and field tip? Or better to use a broad head?

If you choose to shoot these with a bow, the best results/most powder dispersion occurs when you shoot a rubber bludgeon head directly through the end caps of a target set on a 2x4 ~shoulder height off the ground. I would not recommend using field tips or broadheads unless you're okay with a relatively small release of color powder since those will primarily cut through instead of breaking apart the target. Other than that, you just have to hit within a 3" circle under pressure 👍

Will a paintball gun shoot through these?

Paintballs could potentially crack a small area where they hit and release a tiny amount of powder, but I really think a paintball would just splat on the side and knock the target over. Thanks! Nick
