Great gift and purchase
Now others may say that this is an ear piercing ocarina and is not a good purchase, but you do realize you are basically buying a super soprano ocarina right? It is going to pierce your ears of course, its a super soprano! Your basically getting a piccolo but so much smaller. Now for the actual review, this ocarina is clear sounding and the higher register can be played clearly without having to worry to much about posture or position. Notes can be easily fingered and the air flow scale is decent going from low to medium-high to play the top note with room for more pressure. (This can be a double-edged sword) The actual necklace is pretty and seems structurally sound, I haven’t had it drop the ocarina yet and I have had it for two weeks of constant wearing. So overall great gift and purchase, I bought two one for me and one for my significant other who seemed pleased with the gift, and both of the ocarinas were the same exact quality as described in this review. (We are both musicians with years of experience behind us by the way, so take this review as you will)

Surprisingly loud, clear tone. Accurate tuning. More purple than expected.
The media could not be loaded. I honestly sort of got this on a whim to go along with a 12-hole ocarina which I purchased at the same time. I'm glad that I did, though, because it's a lot of fun to play! It is indeed quite small, at about 2.25"L x 1.5"W x 0.875"H. That being said, I have no difficulty playing it with an adult male's hands, what with the staggered hole placement. This ocarina is tuned to the key of D, and every note that it plays is in tune. That being said, the highest note (all holes open) is a bit finicky and seems to require a good deal more breath pressure to play clearly than all the rest. As far as the coloration goes, it's not exactly what I would call "coffee," as it has a purple-y sort of quality to it. It's really more of a deep maroon or cordovan color, and luckily, that's a color that I like. The included lanyard is a nice touch, but it's a bit chintzy, made with thin string and cheap plastic beads. It's adjustable, at least, but I've had to re-tie it to the ocarina twice as both the original knot and the second simple one that I tied the first time it fell off just weren't good enough. Overall, it's a really nice lil' tweeter!

This is a nice product, a bit high pitched.
I purchased this ocarina as a Christmas gift for my son-in-law. It arrived in a 4x5 box with the ocarina wrapped in bubble wrap. It comes with a beaded cord. The cord seems to be thin and I don't know if it will last long if it is used. The hole in the ocarina will take a heavier cord if he chooses to replace it.It also comes with a song book written in English, a good thing since that is my language. The cover has a picture that shows where to place your fingers. The songs it has are Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Auld Lang Syne, Happy New Year, Happy Birthday To You.I purchased the brown ocarina, it feels good in the hand. I tested the sound, it is clear, but too high for me. I think it will be a nice contrast to the one that I bought for my daughter.I am pleased with my purchase and think that my son-in-law like it also.

Easy to start, difficult to master.
The media could not be loaded. I started with a 12 hole ocarina and moved to this one because it's so tiny and cute. I love that I can just go about my whole day with this thing hanging on my neck. I can play a bit any time I have a minute to kill. The small size also has it's drawbacks; I have average sized male hands, but I have no issue reaching the holes. However, it is more difficult, but not impossible to play perfectly in tune because of breath balancing. The amount of breath you need going up the scale does not increase evenly. An experienced ear can adjust and sound very good. The beginner will still have a blast and probably not even notice the tonal issues. I play 5 or 6 instruments and I don't even care that this is out of tune sometimes because it's so much fun.I bought one for myself and one as a gift for a penny whistle playing friend of mine.
