I was surprised at how firm they are. I don't think that's a bad thing, I'm just used to using a makeup sponge that's, well, more spongey. No complaints, though. They do their job, and I could always dampen them with some warm water if I need them to be softer. They're also a little on the small side, but not by much. I'll definitely keep using them.
