The Curious Ape: The 25 Most Powerful Ideas from the Joe Rogan podcast

Misleading
This book has a great initial aesthetic. There are a lot of very intelligent professional people with controversial ideas that can and do back it up on Joe Rogan's show. However, this book excludes that professional evidence and backing up of their point. I initially thought the writer Sean Stuart would reference the podcast and the professionals points and options a lot more. Instead it is Sean Stuarts view on these opinions. I would much prefer for Sean Stuart to have quoted and given evidence of for example "David Goggins:why some people can survive torture" from David Goggins mouth on the show . But as stated above it is all Sean Stuarts view on the ideas and theories. The bit that allows me to believe this is book is misleading is because it will give a tittle of "David Goggins: Why some people can survive torture" but not actually quote his words or give some of his views. Even Sean Stuarts analysis is disappointing. I cant fault him for all of his writing and views but I feel he is out of his depth here with these ideas. Not to say I know and can completely understand all these ideas. By Sean Stuarts views for me don't appeal, but I guess that was the aim of his book! But, when you buy this book know it is all Sean Stuarts view and option on all this ideas, not the featured people on the podcasts view in words and then Sean Stuarts analysis. Although, this is not a completely disappointing book, I have enjoyed listening to a scientists view on all these ideas, as well as some interesting analysis he sometimes makes. To finish, I feel a better person to analyse these ideas would be someone like Jordan Peterson.

Great premise, mixed results
I wanted to like this book. I’m a huge fan of the podcast and wanted to give this as a Christmas gift to everyone in my life who is mystified that I can spend so long listening to a podcast. The premise is great. However, the author inserts a lot of himself into the book. His opinions, ideas, background. This was distracting and annoying enough that I couldn’t get more than halfway through the book. It read more like a kid’s book report on their favourite episodes and why than a curated collection of other people’s ideas.A for effort and idea, but C for execution.
