Air Innovations MH-408 Platinum 1.1 Gal. Cool Mist Humidifier for Medium Rooms – Up to 400 sq. ft

My mom recommended this particular humidifier when she came to visit us. Our house is very dry for some reason (lots of wood) and others have commented before on how dry it is. I've tried different humidifiers and they are either too big, or too loud, or too hard to keep clean, or too strong with condensation on every wall even at the lowest setting, or too expensive, etc. I had given up on finding a humidifier. Until this one.We keep one in the living room and one in the bedroom. I think I will get two more for the guest room and kids room (my kid has one of those Vicks Vaporizer ones in her room - seems to work ok when she needs it).TIP: get a humidity reader https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013BKDO8 to go along with it. That way you know how to adjust on the fly. In Winter we try to keep it at least 35% - although high 30's up to 40, 41 feels best (in Winter - Summer it's higher naturally). Without the humidifiier our house will stay at an uncomfortable and spark inducing (haha) 25%.TIP: I believe it's meant to be on a table instead of on the ground. It not only works better for each room this way, but we found when we had it on the ground, it misted the carpet too much instead of the air.Pros:--great price and works very well. I bought two, and I may get a third for my kids room--size seems to be what makes it so perfect for us. The ones I had before held too much water and were heavy to fill/move. Just ends up creating a bacteria haven.--looks great. Everyone one who comes in for some reason says "where did you get that??". It's not one of those clunky white things with a giant tank - very sleek.--perfect amount of humidity and very easy to adjust as needed.--easy to refill - light.--easy to clean. I clean it every other/every 3rd or so tank fill. It comes with a handy little self storing brush.--very quiet - almost soothing. The last few I had would gurgle loudly or run louder.--will run for a couple of days in normal weather without having to be refilled, and once every 24 hours or so on Winter days that are very dryCons--trying hard to think of one. :) It needs to be on a table top. So we had to find space for it in each room.--wish it had a super easy essential oil diffuser function. We like to run essential oils (doterra breathe - amazing) all Winter long, so we have to have two units going - this one and our aroma diffuser. But that particular Unicorn combo of great humidifier at great price + aromatherapy diffuser doesn't seem to exist - unless someone knows of one.Highly recommend this unit for every room where you spend time in Winter. Until we bust out $10K+++ on a whole house humidifier, this works great.

I first purchased this exact model and color when it first came out 6 or more years ago and was sold on QVC for significantly more. I decided to replace my old one because it had a moderate amount of crusty mineral buildup and some black substance around parts of the base that I didn’t want or know how to clean. It still worked well, I just wanted a clean start and figured I already got the value of my money out of it since I use it every day for the comfort of my dry eyes as recommended by my optometrist. When I read the information booklet that came with the new one, I realized that I should have been cleaning parts of it with white vinegar periodically to remove the mineral buildup so that it wouldn’t end up like mine. If I had read the directions, I wouldn’t have needed to buy a new one.I have purchased several humidifiers in the past and this one is by far my favorite. Mine is completely silent (unlike the noisy cheap one I purchased at a large drugstore chain that was so loud I couldn’t sleep through it at night). Before buying this model, I came to regard the others as “white noise” as I adjusted to the sound.This model doesn’t need to be refilled daily either. I keep mine turned up to around the mid setting and it lasts about 3 days or more. I also like that it has a narrow window so that you can see the water level to judge when it is starting to get low. I purchased another humidifier made by this company that had a broader window on each side and it didn’t look as clean and attractive because the window area showed too much condensation.With regard to white dust, I have a little white dust near the unit but it is significantly less than I had with other models and I don’t mind wiping the surface around the unit every few days because it’s cheaper and less effort than buying and lugging around bottles of distilled water. (I didn’t purchase any additional parts recommended for hard water.)I am very happy with this model and was overjoyed when I saw that the company did not change or discontinue it. I think that speaks well of it’s reliability and popularity among customers.

I like it! Been running non-stop for a few weeks during our dry winter and so far all is good. This is my second Air Innovations medium-sized unit - the first worked well for probably five years or so, so I trust the company. I love the style and the gray color, the window to see water level, and it's pretty quiet. Great size for our small house, easy to fill and carry for this wimpy, short girl! Price is good compared to similar. Took away one star overall for the slanted design of the top because I can't set it flat on the counter to screw the filter back in the unit once filled - looks nice, not practical. Also, had to get used to removing the little part on top (that directs the mist) before turning over to fill - little bit went flying the first few times. Overall, very happy with it and recommend for style and functionality.

Our house is very dry, around 30% humidity. I bought two of them. Well made and blends into the room rather than sticking out. It runs very quietly and has a good water capacity. I run them both 24 hours per day and get the house up to 45% - 50% humidity in the key areas. No more dry coughs at home and the dust level is down as well. I know where to go when we need more.

So easy to use and a relief I'll save money by not having to buy filters. Cured my winter dry nose, skin, nails - everything is better! Good for one room; get more, or a bigger unit for a bigger room. Very quiet except when the water lowers and you hear a brief blub sound.

This is an attractive and simple to operate humidifier without the remote and programming features of other humidifiers I own. Works effectively for a small bedroom. Would have given a top rating except for some moderate noise from the water circulation. Best feature is the permanent white dust cartridge that really works especially with distilled water. Big fan of ultrasonic humidifiers but highly recommend purchasing a portable water distiller to reduce white dust.

This is my second humidifier of the same type from Air Innovations. when I got my first one I was prepared to not like it but was pleasantly surprised. It is quiet and efficient. I will note that it is very important to use water that has been through a proper filter or from a water softener. when I first started using it, I used water from a Brita, thinking that would work. The result was a white powder residue on surfaces. After switching to the right type of water I had no further issues. I love that there is no filter that has to be replaced all the time, instead you just rinse the little filter under running water. As I said, this is my second humidifier like this... the first one finally died after a number of years of daily use. During the time that I waited for my new humidifier both my husband and I noticed a huge difference, and my sinuses got really bad. After only 2 nights I could feel the difference in my skin, eyes, and especially my nose. I would absolutely recommend this item to anyone.
