Sounds like sacrilege, but here's why
Just two stars, here...and mostly because of the "bonus" singles. Hunch these last cuts were added because otherwise, fewer people would buy this boxed set. Two stars for Cliff?? Sounds like sacrilege, but here's why:Unlike LPs by US "teen" recording stars, British LPs (and this goes for the ones recorded by Cliff's group, The Shadows) did NOT usually include any singles releases. Fascinating difference, when (for example) Bobby Rydell, Neil Sedaka, Bobby Lee, Connie Francis, Roy Orbison LPs usually included Top 40 hit or two in the 10-12 cuts. Example: Orbison's LP Crying: the Top ten title cut and Running Scared. These albums? Nope. The thinking was: this is a different market. So, charted best-selling singles need not be included. Possible rationale: UK kids didn't have the bucks for long-play 33 1/3 records. So, aside from the half-dozen "add ons" what we've got here is are the LPs, from that "other" market, including the two movie "soundtrack" albums, Wonderful Life and Summer Holiday. (Which explains the Shadows instrumental "Movie" cuts, Peace Pipe and The Savage," which otherwise wouldn't be included. These are available elsewhere. So are the few hits included here. So, all this means that a good 2/3rds of these cuts are forgettable, what in N.A. would be called LP and soundtrack filler.

Cliff Richard ~ First Seven Albums
With a career spanning over fifty years, Cliff Richard is the 3rd top selling singles artist in U. K. history.Originally his back-up band was called the Drifters, later called the Shadows. In the 1950's and early 60's Richard's persona was a rebellious R&R singer, somewhat the idea as Little Richard or Elvis. This set includes all seven of the pop singers albums, from his debut in 1959 to the end of 1962which includes 6 studio albums and 1 soundtrack album, plus bonus singles, totaling 124 tracks.Richard had only one song chart in the U.S.A. during this spanned of time, it's here & the b/side.His other 18 charted singles were between 1963 to 1983, so none of those are here.I've also tried to note his charted hits, 1958 - 62 that where UK releases. (not USA)Five stars because these digitally remastered tracks on this 4 C.D. set have excellent sound, and this is an economical way for a Richard fan to enjoy his early albums.1. Cliff ~ 19592. That you can buy old music in new packages.
It was very nice to get 7 LPs and lots of singles in one package.

Early Cliff Gems.
This is Cliff Richard in his very early recording years. Again, effectively 8 albums are here as the 4th. CD has a bonus collection of 16 Hit Singles making it in reality another album. The albums are all classics and the production is top class. I remember playing these on vinyl back in the day when you played albums every day until you learned every word and knew exactly which song was next. Again, for my part nostalgia plays a part but for those of a later generation of Cliff fans, this is a great insight into his early work with rock and roll and ballad tunes.

Great value but listen before you buy.
I purchased this on the reviews given by previous purchasers and although it's great value I was left disappointed because the mastering process has left many of the tracks sounding different to how I remember the original singles and albums. As a result I subsequently bought another collection (40 Golden Greats) that I found much more pleasing, even though this set has much more music. My advice is listen to the same tracks on various collections before buying any. If you do you will hear for yourself the difference in the various recordings available.

Cliff's early recordings in good quality: no scratches (as I hear on my LP's)
Cliff's first album, simply CLIFF, is in full stereo. My babe is mentioned as My baby (info on the CD). I love you so is mentioned as I love you (info on the CD). The night is so lonely is given as Night is so lovely. The bonus single tracks (A-sides only) are all in mono.

Great cliff comp
Cliff at his most iconic in his early days along with the shads, with none of the messing with the tracks so that we have the originals in all their glory musically and staging

The lad has done it again
If it had not been for someone to list the tracks I would not have purchased these discs. The tracks are great, old and more recent tracks also tracks I had not heard before. This is a great selection.
