Horror Story with a Happy Ending Courtesy of Wayne Sump Pump!
I recently purchased a 95% gut renovation in Chicago. The plumbing work that was done is phenomenal, so I was extremely surprised to find a 1/2 inch of water in half of my newly finished basement after our first flash flood rain of the summer last month. I pulled the sump basin lid off and sure enough, it completely full. I fished around in the water with my hand until I found float and wiggled it around a few times which finally triggered the pump to turn on. It drained the basin and drained the water that had backed in the inlet pipes, leaving me to push all of the standing water floor drain and spend a few days cleaning up the mess. When it rained again that weekend, I immediately went down to the basement and sure enough, I watched the basin fill quickly, but the float didn't trigger pump again, so there I sat on the floor in the utility room, for 3 hours in the middle of the night, hitting the float with a piece of wood every 5 minutes to turn the pump on.Once it stopped raining, I pulled the pump out, which is when I learned it was a Flotec FPZS33T model. I disassembled the float switch, cleaned all of the contacts, reassembled the switch, checked all of the seals, cleaned the intake, and put the pump back in the basin. I ran my garden hose into basin, and successfully triggered the float switch. I was feeling pretty satisfied with my handy work. Problem solved right?Wrong. We got through two more decent rains without any problems. The pump seemed to be working well. On Wednesday night (two days ago), the entire Chicagoland area was under Flash Flood and Tornado warnings. When the rain started, I went down to the basement and everything seemed good. After about 20 minutes, I went back down to the basement and noticed that basin was 2/3 full, but the pump was still running full tilt because I could not only hear it, but I could hear the water moving through the discharge pipe. I sat there for the next 20 minutes and watched the basin slowly fill to capacity, backing up the inlet pipes yet again. Within an hour of the rain starting, I had water beginning to pool on the floor again, not as badly as the first time because the pump was actually on, but bad enough to really tick me off. This pump was less than a year old, and it already had a faulty switch and completely failed to keep pace with a regular summer thunder storm!I ordered a Wayne CDU980E 3/4 horsepower sump pump on Amazon with overnight delivery. The pump came by noon yesterday. I had it installed in 15 minutes because the fittings and pipe lengths were a perfect match. I tested it and it ran great. Last night we had another torrential downpour and new pump worked like a champ! This thing didn't even break a sweat, and it is actually a bit quieter than the other pump to boot! I'm very satisfied. Great product and incredibly easy to install! The Wayne pump only cost $30 more than the Flotec pump and it is a much better design and WAY me powerful. I'll monitor the performance over the summer and post back if anything changes. The good news for Flotec is that I might not throw their garbage pump away immediately. I'm thinking of making an outdoor basin that catches rainwater from my gutter downspout and then pump it into a larger catchment in my garden to use for watering my plants. So yeah, this pump will spend the remainder of its life in my garden, moving rainwater for my vegetables, but I will never allow it near my home ever again!

So far so good with the Wayne Sump Pump
The Wayne sump pump is quiet and works well you will need to buy a threaded inlet to connect the pump to you PVC piping but other than that easy install and works well

Easy to install, very quiet and works great
This pump works great. I get a lot of water in my sump pit due to the location of my house. This pump has been installed since October so far no issues. It's so quiet I can't hear it run unless I’m standing over it.

Pumps alot of water fast!
My last pump would run 1/2 minute to pump 5 gallons, this one does it in 5 seconds. And does so quietly.Great pump!

Easy to install
You do have to now some basics about plumbing to install this, but it wasn't difficult. A little quieter than our last one, but I can still hear it in the living room, one floor above where it is installed. Still, not bad. Can't tell yet about longevity, but I can tell you it's working overtime these days and it's been reliable, so I'm glad I replaced our old one!

I love this Pump!!
This is a great pump and for the price it's the best one. Turns pvc pipes into long range cannons try not to step in front of the drain pipe end when it goes off unless you need to get a wash down lol.

Better Than The One it Replaced
OK. I bought this partly as my Tim Allen "More Power" approach to the sump pump issues I had been having. First off, this past Spring had heavy rains and the house which I just bought last year had a Zoeller with an electrical pump backup. The Zoeller sump pump started having problems by not always running. It would not work sometimes and the electric backup would trigger and start pumping. Well, an electric backup (with deep cycle battery) does not have the same capacity/performance as a 1/3 HP Zoeller (when it works) and my basement got slightly flooded. Go google "Zoeller gasket issue" and you might even find a review explaining what I was actually experiencing. I'm not here to review the Zoeller as I didn't buy it.Well, the trouble was the the rain was particularly heavy and the electric backup sump pump just wasn't doing the job with the end result that all my carpet padding was toast. At least I saved the carpets.Well, since the Zoeller wasn't working reliably and the electric couldn't handle the volume, what is the point? A full replacement system with reliable electric backup would cost too much so I just decided to go from 1/3 HP to 3/4 HP for a highly reviewed sump pump and combine it with a water watchdog. I also bought a Wayne water pump which I will use if this fails - which I expect is unlikely. It is smooth, quieter than the Zoeller, and gets the job done faster.Update 2015-10-23OK. It has been installed for more than a year and is still going strong even after recent rains. It is definitely quieter than the Zoeller IMO.

Party on Wayne!... Party on Garth!
We just moved in to our newly renovated house and it had a new sump pump but a cheap one (1/4 hp and $90-$100 price range). This cheap pump would run for 1-2 minutes at a time and so loud that it would wake us up at night. So I googled best sump pump and this Wayne one came up as highest rated.I watched a few youtube videos on how to install, and it was super easy, since all my pipes were new and the pit was already set I didn't need to replace any piping or dig the pit, I just unscrewed the old pump and screwed this one in. Then I filled up the pit with water and did a test run and it emptied in 2 seconds with only a gentle noise. I was actually blown away. I couldn't understand why anyone would endure the noise of the cheaper pump to save $100 or $150.In terms of noise, I wanted to give a detailed review because this was our primary concern:-the noise is comparable to a quiet/newer dishwasher when you are beside the pump. Since ours is in an enclosed utility closet the pump operation noise is not noticeable from outside the closet unless you are told what to listen for and sit quietly to wait for it. It is also so quick that the sound doesn't last long.-The pump is so powerful and quick that it creates some force when it turns on and sends the water out. You may hear the water flow through pipes if you can hear water flow through other pipes in your house (like if you can hear somebody empty the bathtub when you are downstairs). This may or may not be noticeable depending on how insulated your walls are and whether or not you have secured the outflow pipes (or if they're just flopping around willy-nilly).The pump also feels very solid and looks well built. The only negative was shipping took 2 days longer than expected and that happened to be during a rain event so we were suffering with the old pump.I would totally recommend.

Well build, easy to install
As always with Amazon it arrived in perfect condition, well packed and in time. This pump smels quality and is very strong and powerful. I’m very satisfied for the time being. Only time will say if it will last to be honest but I’m confident.

Great pump.
Using the pump for infloor sump pump. I set it up in a 5 gallon paint bucket with holes all around. Fits and works perfect Evan though 5 gallon bucket is a bit smaller than minimum size specified for unit.Pump is very fast and very quite,it has been amazing.Only reason for 4 stars over 5 is the cast iron base is already starting to show rust after a few weeks in operation. Definitely not a big deal by any means as cast does rust Evan if painted.

So far, we're happy with it.
We've been using (and fixing) a Zoeller 50 series pump since we moved into this house, which is at the bottom of a hill and always has water passing through it, nearly three years ago. It finally died (luckily we had the Liberty water-powered pump as a backup because the Zoeller failed three times in three years, but it was much older than that), so in a hurry, we bought the Wayne because our Liberty pump uses a LOT of water and we're on metered water here. It's only been six days since I installed it, but it seems to be better than the Zoeller so far. It's quieter and appears to be pumping the water further out of the house than the Zoeller, which is resulting in there being significantly less water coming into the house. We've never not heard the slow trickle in the basement- until now. The sump well is almost dried up completely and while the weather has been dry this week, previous years, we've never seen the trickle stop, no matter what the weather.I don't know about the longevity of it, but I'll try to remember to update as it gets older.Installation was okay, but harder than they make it seem, probably because we were replacing a Zoeller pump, which had funky plumbing. I needed a 10" x 1.5" ABS pipe, a male to female threaded ABS end to go into the sump, and ABS glue to glue it all together. But I still have the Zoeller check valve above it (as you see in the image) because we just replaced that last year (it narrows to 1.5" wide at the bottom). I've never installed a replacement sump before and I managed okay alone.I hope this helps if you, like us, are in a mad panic and trying to choose between the Zoeller and Wayne.edit: 2019-12-02, LOVE this sump. It's so much quieter and quicker than our Zoeller. I love it more and more with time. Just came to update.2021-12-11: two years in and it's still going great. 10/10 recommend. Upped to 5 stars because I forget how hard it was to install and all I see are the sunshine and rainbows it pumps out.
