One Minute Wisdom

I thoroughly enjoyed reading and reflecting on this book. As someone who earnestly seeks to follow God and become the person I was created to be, I was able to put myself in the shoes of the disciples as well as the master and learn from both perspectives.

I give this book to the young people in my Episcopal youth group when they are confirmed. Some really great lessons inside, each takes a minute to read, but days or years to digest meaning. Very deep.The stories are told from the perspective of a spiritual leader being questioned by an acolyte. Read a few with a group of friends and start some great conversations. What does it all mean? Answers and questions are inside this book.

Anthony De Mello serves up his richest fare ever in this lovely book.It requires such discipline of me to patiently sit with one brief insight whenI so want to read Pell mell through the whole text non-stop. Yes, this bookwill be a mainstay of my meditation sources. Thanks, Tony.

My "go to" book for days that are filled to the brim. It helps settle my being and allows me to continue with the tasks of the day with a sense of the presence of the Devine .My "go to" book that fulfilled my neede SpritualI

The short stories in this book are very profound and are supposed to make you meditate about what is written, throughout the day. Much more than I expected.

Anthony has a very honest raw approach to life that many will find harsh, but it is a very realistic view. I disagree with some of his sentiments such as "You don't love anyone , just your idea of who you want them to be" as a mother I can't really relate to that one as I love my daughter unconditionally. But I do believe we place way too much dependance on others for our happiness in life and so I fully agree with his thoughts on being happy enough with your own life to not expect others to create your world. A lot of good points that make you challenge your old way of thinking about relationships which I think is healthy! Good read!

I would recommend reading two other books by this author first; they are The Way To Love and Awareness:The Perils and Opportunities of Reality.

Originally, I found this book at a wine bar in Ireland, but I bought it for my Kindle and I use it during visits at the nursing home where I work. It gives me something to share with the people and myself about being very mindful.

It says a book that will awaken and transform you...and this is true. I find all of Anthony de Mello's books/teachings so beneficial and life-changing, as our thoughts and beliefs are challenged, as they need to be. This is packed full of 200 parables and lessons about living life fully. The short readings on each page are simple yet deeply profound. A joy to read, a little bit at a time, and very useful just to have handy, and to lift and read one story (takes few minutes only)to bring our minds back to focus...full of wisdom which is easy to absorb. I fully recommend this.

Outstanding anecdotes and the best way to give life's lesson. The book is constantly on my bedside table and lovely to dip into for a couple of minutes when I'm too tired to read for a while. The book is truly full of wisdom where understanding is created behind the story. So simply written and yet so powerful.

I suppose I should have looked into it more but I was hoping for a book with a slightly more Christian content. However, I have a friend who will be delighted to find it in her stocking this Christmas! Good thing we don't all like the same things!
