HD 280 Pro Headphone, Black

Thank you DankPods for your help. Your video may be 87 years old, but these things are a nice sounding, reasonably priced headphone if you want your music where the producer put it, with a little oomph on the bass. Two things you may not enjoy, so far, my apparently large head can feel a squeeze. It’s not terrible, just there and the corkscrew style cable. It feels like a split cable, but some don’t like the old telephone cord style. So anyways. Running this on my iPad and my PC. Doesn’t seem to need anything more powerful to put out solid sound. It comes with a thicker jack on the cable, whatever the description of the measurement is. 1/4? I don’t know. I forget. Never fear though, just unscrew it gently. Please just be an adult and gently unscrew it because you don’t need to go ham on the thing. It will unscrew and screw on easily, so just relax. They feel sturdy enough. You know, don’t go lobbing them across the room. They fold and swivel, and all that. It’s plastic, so not very heavy and aside from the squeeze that will probably break in over time, they are coo. No extra controls or anything on them. If you want to get a good idea of how they sound for you, take a song you love and know well and give that a whirl. If your system has a fine tuning EQ, adjust as needed. They sound good to me. I do not regret my purchase. I needed to move away from IEMs and tried some FiiO wood ones that were ok except for the price and the stank of them, and these feel comparable at well under half the price. The great part of nice headphones is just hearing songs you love in a more expansive way.

I came to the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro after years on Sony studio headphones, mostly out of frustration with small things like replacing worn ear pads. What I didn’t expect was how much it would change the way I listen. First impression? Confusing. The bass felt bigger than expected, almost “too fun” for a studio tool. Turns out, that wasn’t the headphones, it was my headphone amp. Plugged directly into my Soundcraft Si Impact console, everything snapped into place: tight lows, clear mids, and a much more honest picture overall. That’s the key here: these headphones don’t flatter anything. If there’s a problem upstream, you’ll hear it. They won’t rescue a bad mix, but they will show you exactly where it’s going wrong. The isolation is excellent (around 32 dB), which is great for tracking and focus, though it can take a minute to adjust. Once I did, flaws in older mixes became obvious, muddy lows, unclear mids, questionable EQ choices. Fixing them suddenly felt fast and intuitive. They’re not the most comfortable at first, tight clamp, a bit heavier than some, but that’s part of the seal and durability. Build quality is solid, and the replaceable ear pads are a big plus. Bottom line: This is a workhorse, not a luxury listen. It’s not designed to impress, it’s designed to tell the truth. And if you’re serious about mixing, tracking, or just hearing more clearly, that honesty is exactly what you want.

The HD 280 pro's have a nice quality feel, and balanced non-fatiguing sound. I'm reading about these other people rating these headphones as trash, they are anything but! .... Of course they have their take, and I'm sharing mine. I am also a professional studio musician, like the other recent reviewer. In contrast to what he mentioned, being to flat! That is the intent for their design, to be accurate in presentation for all frequencies. Not for overly accentuated frequencies, making a mix sound inaccurate. As a percussionist, I love bass too, but not at a cost of sacrificing a well balanced studio mixed recording. Granted, they will never sound like a set of Meze Elite Aluminum headphones, but they also don't cost $4K. What they do provide is excellent value for the money. As far as the chord, I had no problem what so ever, a non factor. I've used this model for years, it's reliable, accurate at a price that is more than reasonable. I liked them so much, I personally went the extra mile of purchasing the VOARMAKS Leather Replacement Ear Pads, which is available on Amazon as well. They compliment the HD 280 pro's even more. They also improve the sound too. It's subtle, but the soundstage seems to be larger, and the presence is clearer IMO. Nothing subtle about the improvement in comfort, and larger, fitting over the ear nicely versus the stock ones. Installation is easy as well. To me it's a no brainer to purchase in addition. In Summary, Everyone has their own take, mine personally, the HD-280 Pro's is no doubt, a worthy of purchase! For $85 especially!

The new HD280PRO from Sennheiser has been a stellar addition to my collection. I was looking for a set of reference headphones for sound accuracy at a reasonable price and these fit the bill almost perfectly. They perform at a level that I would expect from a set closer to the 200 dollar price point. Overall build is quite solid and it is great to know that if anything would fail on it that Sennheiser sells parts for their headphones. I have had mine for 4 months and HEAR is my breakdown: (heh see what I did there... sorry) Pros: -Sound quality blows away most headphones in this price range. -Build quality is rock solid with added benefit of being able to be taken apart and replace parts in the worst case scenario. -Sound Isolation is quite fantastic for not being noise cancelling. You could seriously use these as earmuffs to block out sound even without any audio playing. -Balanced Sound, which is exactly what you expect for reference headphones. I love that these are able to produce crisp highs, clean mids, and healthy bass. You aren't going to experience muddy tones in your lows, and the highs are not breaking up. Keeps a focus on detail and does not disappoint. -Coiled wire makes is less cumbersome when managing the cable if on the go or in a shared office space. -Comes with a 3.5mm jack that you can thread on the included 1/4 inch connector. -Designed in Germany and built in the USA! Cons: -Comfort. This very well could be a personal issue based on head shape, but I find that these like to squeeze your head with the grip strength of a professional arm wrestler on steroids. I find myself struggling to keep these on my head for longer than an hour at a time, and it is strictly due to the strength of clamping pressure they have. Everything else is comfortable about them, but when you feel like there is a black hole between your ears pulling these ear cups in on you it is something worth noting... -Warm. While this may be a positive if you are in a heavily air-conditioned room or perhaps out about in the cold, then you will probably start to notice that these bad boys can create their own green house gas effect on the sides of your head. Hasn't really been much of an issue for me. -Limited Sound-stage. Kind of expected from a reference closed back set with great sound isolation. Overall these cans are great. I know I went a little ham on the description of their ability to compress your skull (potentially enough to even turn Arnold's head from the hit show "Hey Arnold!" back into a normal shape), but that is due to the lack of other complaints. This even could potentially be mitigated by storing these on a headphone stand that keeps them stretched, or even trying some different ear pads. This is easily outweighed by their performance in every other category. If I had to purchase another closed-back headphone for even $150 or less then I would save that extra $50 dollars for an investment elsewhere and buy these again. If I notice any changes in the future I will be sure to update.

I have owned this model of headphones multiple times since around 2008. The first pair had a known defect in the headband, and the plastic eventually broke. This one might have lasted a few years before that. The next pair lasted a long time after that as they fixed the headband design flaw. But, they eventually died due to damage in the wires around the folding joints in May 2018. This was from repeated and regular collapsing as it was designed to do, but maybe not on a regut basis. So, don't collapse them of you don't need to! The pleather also had mostly worn away from repeated use. I got another pair, and these worked grest as well until September 2019 when a new dog of ours decided the audio cable was great for chewing! So, definitely not a design flaw in the headphones. Then I got yet another pair, and these have yet again been just as great as all of the others. In 2008, I researched a lot for recommended headphones to use that would not leaving me feeling like I was missing out when I couldn't use speakers with a sub. These for the bill, and they don't break the bank. They're usually around $100, and that's a fantastic deal if you ask me. They're probably not technically ad good as $300 or $500+ headphones, but that's fine since I don't want to spend that much on headphones. In this price range, I think these are a phenomenal bang for your buck. There's a reason I haven't bothered looking for other headphone options over the years. I keep coming back to these. Other than the wire failure, they have never failed audibly, and sound amazing. They isolate sound mostly, but still let some ambient sound in. I prefer this over sound cancellation. They sit well, feel soft, are washable, and they survived the dog attack on the headphones. They also keep my ears a bit warmer during colder months. They're also much cheaper than replacement earphone cushions at $7.49. If these are in your price range, I can't recommend them enough for great sound quality and reliability.

These are incredibly comfortable for long periods, and sound terrific. They seem sturdy too. I like the availability of original replacement parts (pads, cushions, cable, etc.). Headphones get lots of wear, so nice to be able to repair rather than replace. I got these for studio monitoring while tracking loud electric guitar. They are perfect for that. I need headphones that block out external sound form my amps, so I can hear the other tracks with which I am playing--without having to turn up the volume to ear-damaging levels. I was impressed by the specs that claim HD280 Pro has great sound isolation. Before the HD280 pros, I had been using an old drummer's trick--industrial earmuffs over ear buds. That worked great to block out the sound, but was uncomfortable for long sessions, and a bit cumbersome for on/off, and did not have the best sound. At first, I was not impressed with the sound isolation from the HD280 Pros. They do attenuate the high frequencies, but the low-mids and lows still get through. Honestly, the sound isolation claims for these headphones are way overblown, so hard hitting drummers or guitarists who play REALLY loud may wish to use specialized isolation headphones in favor of the HD280 Pro, to preserve their hearing. But for my use (loud, but not insane, guitar amps), I found I preferred the amount of leakage in the HD280 Pro over the nearly total isolation of muffs or drummer cans. I felt it kept me more connected to my playing than my previous setup, with which I relied solely on the in-ear monitor feed to hear my own guitar, since all outside sounds were blocked. I do have to turn the level up in the HD280 Pros, a bit louder than when using isolation muffs, to hear the background tracks over my cranked amp--but still not to levels that will damage my hearing. And the HD280 Pro's extreme comfort is a welcome improvement. More importantly, the SOUND quality of the HD280 is far superior to my prior setup. I was surprised to find the superior sound inspires my instrumental performance, and makes me feel and play better. These sounded great with virtually no break in. I imagine they will only improve over time. For really, really loud recording situations (requiring near total isolation), or mixing use (requiring a more neutral frequency response, and more natural soundstage than HD280Pro), I think other, specialized headphones would be a better bet. I highly recommend these to other guitarists for monitoring while recording---they have the perfect combination of features for it. They would also be terrific for vocalists or voice over performers, since the HD280Pros have sufficient isolation to keep the playback from leaking into sensitive vocal microphones. Also good for general listening, when you want to keep much (but not all) of the outside sounds out, or keep your music from being heard by others.

Purchased a Roland TD-17KVX2 V-Drums Kit and these headphones work perfectly with it. The sound is amazing—clear and crisp. Plug and play and a great value for the cost. They are comfortable to wear and haven't fallen off once. The cord length is good too.

These are the first pair of reference headphones I've ever used, and I am not using them for professional use. My reason for buying them is the sound isolation. I needed headphones that do not leak sound and disturb my sleeping wife. After some research, these headphones were my best choice. They indeed isolate sound. I have a pair of ballistic ear cups rated to reduce 27 decibels, and they are built for shooting guns. These are quite comparable, meaning they keep in a similar amount of sound. I'm not even going to rate the sound quality, because I'm not using any professional equipment. I will say that it seems as close to true sound as my equipment will allow. The hdr output from one of my video games gives me a much better idea of where other players are in 3D space. As for comfort, these are quite nice. The only thing that causes discomfort is actually the cable. It is too heavy. My neck gets stiff from the subtle tilt the heavy cable induces. Which brings me to the main criticism I have of this product. The cable is a heavy duty cable with straight sections on both ends. It cannot be removed, or I would have removed it on day one. However, on day three I had to go to Amazon and buy a male to female audio cable (extender). While both ends of the cable are engineered to be quite strong, even the strongest cables will wear out with that amount of stress. The coiled section of this cable is far too heavy for its short length. Without the extender attached, these headphones are unusable due to discomfort and concern for damaging the product. So add $8-15 to the price unless you have such a cable.

After a lot of research & comparisons with Studio Monitoring Headphones in this league, both price wise & functionality wise, between the Audio Technica ATH-M20x or 30x (a popular & formidable product) & the Sony MDR7506 (classic & iconic studio headphones), what finally made the choice for me was a super discounted deal on amazon for these Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones! At 6.5k, they are way more than a steal. First impression, right as you open the box packaging, is of a premium, well built & heavy duty pair of studio headphones. Box contains the headphones, which come with an attached output cord in a 3.5mm Jack with a 6.5mm adapter & a Safety Instruction guide, that’s it . . . No muss, No Fuss! The cord length provided is just perfect for my usage. These headphones are primarily going to be used for Video & Audio editing on a Macbook Pro, for 4K & Dolby Vision content, so the max distance is usually a standard desktop or office table setup, so the cord length is sufficient. Overall, build & touch n feel quality is off the charts, especially considering the price & the other options available in the same price/features segment. As soon as you pick up the headphones, you know you’ve picked up a premium brand. Finally, the sound quality, is by far the best I’ve experienced till date on any “over the ear”headphones, which were bought for personal use. The audio levels are crisp & clean, totally studio quality. The Noise Cancellation feature is highly effective & makes tuning out from the world, when editing a music video, a cakewalk. Despite looking like heavy duty headphones, these are fairly lightweight & haven’t caused any major issues after a few hours of usage. The cup size is nice & large enough to cover an entire average sized ear. The only caveat so far is the shape of the overhead band, which is way too wide, especially on a bald narrow head, so they may look a bit funny, but it is an extremely small nit-picky thing in what is otherwise an exceptionally fantastic piece of audio equipment. Although it is just the first day of use, the purpose & functionality of the headphones has been a 10/10 for the sound quality, on all audio trials & tests so far. Whether you’re looking for a pair of headphones for professional audio recording/mixing/engineering work or just to plug into your home device & hear crisp, clean & balanced sound, these HD280 PROs are absolutely perfect. Extremely impressed & happy with the purchase. Two Thumbs Up!

Kulaklık kafa bandı tarafında demir var zaten, yani tamamen plastik değil. Kulaklığın her bölgesi farklı plastikten yapılmış, hepsini sökme vidyosunda gördüm. Kablo çıkar tak değil biraz sorun olabilir bazıları için. Kablo çıkmayan ve ağır olduğundan yıldız kaydı 2 adet.

Jag har lyssnat på / provat / köpt / testat / flera hörlurar de senaste åren … och de här är de bästa enligt mig hittills - i den här prisklassen. Rekommenderas. Jag använder hörlurarna med en hörlursförstärkare (Audioquest Firefly) när jag spelar, mixar och spelar in. Du får betala några tusenlappar till för att nå upp till samma nivå som dessa HD 280 Pro levererar. PS. Inga batterier krävs - som det felaktigt nämns här i beskrivningen.

Queste HD 280 Pro sono state una bellissima sorpresa. Mi servivano un paio di cuffie abbastanza chiuse da poter registrare senza bleed troppo ambientale, ma anche per ascoltare semplicemente musica (e fare un po' di webcalls). Queste 280 sono state una scelta azzeccata. La qualità audio, dopo un pochino di rodaggio, si bilancia molto bene, non ci sono enfasi innaturali sui bassi. La definizione è molto buona e l'isolamento acustico è ottimo. Leggerete che le cuffie sono un pochino scomode da tenere tutto il giorno: non posso dire che siano piume, ma non sono fastidiose. La clamping force degli auricolari è giusta, non eccessiva. Io trovo ottima l'imbottitura sia degli auricolari che dell'arco, che rimane solidamente ancorato anche se si muove la testa. Il punto un pochino deludente è il cavo, non rimuovibile ed avvolto. Alcuni hanno lamentato che il cavo sia pesante, e non posso dare loro torto. E' un po' ingombrante. Considerate però che il modello superiore, le HD 300 Pro, che hanno il cavo rimuovibile, costano 80€ in più... Il paragone sulla qualità audio fra questi due modelli non posso farlo, purtroppo... Però se siete contenti della qualità audio della 280, non ponderate di prendere la 300 solo per il cavo rimuovibile... Io sono molto soddisfatto, ascoltare musica con queste cuffie è un piacere, come lavorare e suonare. Si collocano egregiamente nella facia di prezzo dei 100€ e credo pochi avrebbero da ridire sulla qualità del suono. Da provare, sicuramente.
