So far, so good!
Great price, but I'm concerned about the item label being worn...hopefully it's not a sign of previous use. Puts out power and my battery light went out, so it seems to work! Easy install for 91 explorer 4.0. MAKE SURE YOU buy car parts that match all the connections via a picture, some parts don't show it....that should be a sign!

1996 Bronco Perfect fit
My 1996 Bronco alternator lasted 28 years, but once I installed this one I realized it had been faulty for a while -windows all work so much better, lights are brighter - excellent fit, easy install- can't ask for better

Direct replacement and it works
The hardest part of keeping my old truck going is often the ability to find quality parts. My truck is almost 30 years old and the supply of OEM parts is long gone, so I have to settle for aftermarket parts or whatever I can rebuild/fix/bodge myself. One day the voltage gauge in the dash was reading lower than normal and the battery light was flickering at idle. Sure enough, battery voltage with the engine running was around 12.2v and dropping. If the alternator is working it should be in the 13 to 14ish volt range. There are other things that can cause an alternator to stop charging, but in my case the alternator itself was just plain worn out. I had already rebuilt it once, the slip rings were heavily worn, and it wasn't worth rebuilding again. Time to order another alternator. My luck with aftermarket parts has been hit-or-miss. The last parts-store alternator I bought (I won't tell you the name of the store but the initials are AZ) lasted exactly one year on another vehicle, which is pretty dismal. When it came time to buy one for my truck, I at least wanted a name I recognized. This is no guarantee of longevity or quality, but it's the best I can do. I chose AC Delco in the hopes that this would be a good one. The new alternator was a breeze to install in my case, but that will of course vary depending on which vehicle you have. Some of them can really try your patience. I'm lucky in that my truck is generally easy to work on. I think the replacement took less than 45 minutes and I was taking my sweet time. With the truck idling, the new alternator was charging the battery at about 13.6 volts, which is within spec. My truck spends days without being used so the alternator sometimes has to charge a moderately depleted battery. So far, no problems. I don't know if this alternator will prove as good as the last one, but the initial impression is good. Fingers crossed.
