Very Nice Red Dot for the Price!
Purchased this sight last week. Took it out to the range to use with my AR-15 the day after I received it. It took less than 15 rounds to get sighted in thanks to the co-witness with my iron sights. . The adjustments for windage and elevation are precise and positive. It has held its zero for about fifty rounds after getting dialed in. The construction seems rugged (maybe excessively so due to the 13 ounce weight). The clarity of the lenses is good, and the reticles are crisp and adequately bright. Having the option to switch between the four options is cool, but I will probably use the circle and dot reticle exclusively. The auto brightness adjustment feature is pretty cool. It works very well and allows for great ease of use. The only time it doesn't really work is when you are in a shadowed location and looking out on to a bright target area. In general, the sight allows for fast target acquisition, as a red dot sight should. Compared to my friend's Eotech, target acquisition is probably a touch slower, but not by much. I love the fact that the sight uses a AAA battery as its power source...no worrying about availability of replacement batteries. The only major detractor to the sight in my opinion is the weight. With it on my AR-15 carbine, it accounts for over 11% of the overall weight of the rifle. That being said, for the price, I am very happy with the Lucid HD7.

Why you should buy this red dot.
Had it for 1 month as of this review with about 300 round of 7.62x39 in thru my heavy barrel 16" AR with it on top.I am digging it, the HD7 is well thought out, it is guaranteed water 'proof' fog 'proof'.There is nothing flimsy about it that would tip you off to it being made in ChiCom.This is not pure Chinese junk, no, it is American design, American owned and American final inspected unit, only made in ChiCom to compete so it can get to market, as AimPoint and ACOG dominate the high price point US market, Lucid does not stand a chance on that end.Lucid is a small shop, 1 guy and his wife , he is an American, I think living in Utah (if i remember ) He was a design engineer for Brunton Outdoors, he wanted to make a 'high quality' red dot at a good price point and he succeeded.MAC on YouTube has water and drop tested his and it passed. At 30 m sand bagged we are getting bullet hole thru hole accuracy, at 200m I can hit 12" gong every time.NOTE: They make a screw on 2X magnifier and now a 1x5 magnifier and I am getting both myself. The many different reticules are a great idea. I use the single 'dot' most of the time, but the 'circle-dot' fits right over a typical bulls eye target and can be used to 'bracket' a target as a sort of ruff indication of target distance.Just for reference sake, you can have a man walk out to 100, 200 + meters , or place a deer target out at your chosen distance to see just how your chosen reticule with size up against the target in the distance to get a good idea of how a target will look via the reticule. If your 'not' familiar with red dots, they need to be 'turned on' duh, lol.If this is your primary defense weapon, I suggest you co-witness tritium post - iron battle sights thru the HD7 so if you get awoken up on the middle of the night by crystal meth zombies smashing thru your door, your heart is gonna be racing along with your head, and your more than likely going to forget a few things and 1 main thing is to turn the dam thing on !!!In my case at least I am going to be looking thru a nice set of iron sights that glow in the dark in the bottom 3rd of the HD7 ( 1 /3rd co-witness ) as I have Troy Industries folding H&K style sights on my AR. When my iron sights are flipped up and locked in the ready to use position the red dot sits right on top of the front iron sigh post just like a target should be aimed at, as it should, so now I have immediate redundant back up sights. I took some black tape and made the objective ( the side you look thru )side wider to snug fit a Bulter Creek flip up dust cover on it as I walk in the rain when run & gun shooting & hunting with my AR in single point battle sling / muzzle down position so rain drop were getting on my HD7 lens.Your gonna love this sight.Final suggestion: Wait until they make it with an integral quick release mount so You can switch optics fast if You wish to do so.UPDATE: Nov 23: Another approx 500 rounds of 7.62x39 caliber thru my HD7 and it still ROCKS , I love it. PS do NOT buy the 2X Magnifier, why because it is like looking through a soda straw, the field of view disappears even tho it is good quality it still SUCKS as a defensive optic add on, if You want to shoot varmints with it at medium range which for my caliber is 75 to 150 yards then go ahead and buy it but it only seams good for bench rest shooting stationary targets ( squirrels etc....) if they are on the run at close range then forget it as they will run out of the field of view instantly and you wont be able to acquire them fast enough, but at a moderate distance the 2X MAGNIFIER is ' fair' to 'ok '

Solid Sight and Great Value
Put a few magazines-full down range with this and here are my additions to what other have already said:- The color is in-between Magpul FDE and OD Green. My furniture is OD Green and it blends fine. I personally consider this a "feature" that it will work with either color.- The lugs are just like any of these type. They need to be tightened down well or they'll come loose, but once set you are good to go. These are reversible if you prefer them on the other side of the gun (comes on right side). I can't justify spending nearly the same amount as the scope as on the quick disconnects however.- The reticles hold zero between them. However, with the middle two, you could end up in-between the detents if you are not careful which will of course be off zero. I think these detents could be firmer in future revisions.- The windage cover is a little tricky to unscrew because the wire connecting the two covers will bind a bit. With two hands, its no problem. You probably will set and forget this one any way (who spins windage on a red-dot?).- Auto brightness is really nice. You can switch between auto and manual and the reticle will blink a few times fast or slow to indicate which one you are on.- For those afraid your scope will shut off after two hours during a zombie hunt, please note it is two hours of inactivity. So just don't fall asleep or the zombies will eat you anyway.- MOA measurements are in the manual (2 MOA dot, the middle two reticle lines are 10 and 20 from center).-1/2 MOA adjustments are adequate- Weight is alright (13 oz) when considering the mount is included.- Emitter is slightly visible at 9 o'clock. I didn't think this was an issue at all and don't understand the huge fuss others can make: i.e. go buy your Aimpoint instead and I'll gladly take your HD7 off your hands.... And if you really don't like tube red dots, get an Eotech and be done with it.- This sight feels substantial and I have no doubt it would take a beating.- Probably skip the 2x magnifier and kill flash - they don't fit the philosophy of use for a red dot. Butler covers will fit (23 OBJ, 05 EYE).- AAA battery with a month of straight run-time - will I EVER need to replace it? Use a quality battery since leakers void warranty.- I wish it was switchable between red/green (eh).- Support the little guy who is passionate about value for the serious non-pro.- Tacti-cool without being obnoxious.Overall incredible value and great look.
