FamoWood 36021126 Original Wood Filler - Pint, Natural/Tupelo 23 Ounce

Having seen this wood filler used on Thomas Johnson Antique Furniture Restoration(youtube) I figured he's the expert and that's what he uses. Turns out it was a good call.When I received the can I noticed that the label was on upside down. I thought that's a funny manufacturing mistake. Then I noticed that in the Thomas Johnson videos the labels on his cans were upside down too. Hmmm... So either they made that mistake on a large manufacturing run or else they are doing it on purpose. Perhaps it's supposed to be stored upside down.

I am optimistic that this will last better on exterior repairs than the water based wood fillers. The filler is so-so to spread, it does tend to stick to the spatula. Definitely use a separate wood hardener before repairing areas with rot. The biggest nuisance is that it product instructions recommend using multiple layers for large repairs, or at least have a first layer dry fully before making deep repairs. The language there should have been more clear.

Product itself was fine, albeit not as easy to stain-match as advertised. Biggest disappointment was can arrived with major dent which forced lid ajar. After scraping off the dried surface layer on top of can, rest of product was OK & usable. Pictures were taken immediately upon receipt of product (prior to my removing lid to see if it was salvageable). Would have returned product, but didn't have time to wait for replacement.

Oh yes it smells or right but better than todays pot does. Its easy to remove from the can but if your looking for spreadable like spackle or plaster nope. When filling in gougers your definitely going to need layers and sanding after done. Bought this to fill in gougers on our deck before resurfacing it with deck paint and i think it will work.

This is a great woodfiller when you have a large area that needs filling. I used it to fill wood on a shed that had deteriorated from constantly being hit by a rainbird. It spread reasonably well and dried rapidly so that it could be sanded and painted. As a result of its use I was able avoid replacing a large sheet of siding.

This is the best wood filler on the market. You do have to work quickly since the solvent is acetone, which evaporates quickly. Takes stain well. Don't bother buying the FamoWood solvent. It is just acetone, which you can get at any paint/hardware store.

I cant believe that this can was in the opened position and half of the stuff inside was hard as a rock I will never buy this stuff again

Perfect for my use, just remember to seal can well or it will dry out quickly. I store upside down.
