Useful and fun
A firelighting "multitool" with both magnesium bar (for tindering) and ferro bar (for sparking) is such an obvious idea I'm surprised nobody thought of this before. It's small, not fragile, easy to use, and will last for more fires than you're ever likely to have to light even in the zombie apocalypse. Great little thing to throw into a car kit / bugout bag and forget about until you need it.

Useful bushcraft tool.
The firesteel produces some really meaty sparks and the magnesium bar is very useful for helping those harder-to-light tinder piles. The strike-bar fits, conveniently in the handle and the whole gadget folds up like a penknife. The bright orange colour makes it easy to find in your bag or if you drop it in the undergrowth.

There is a nack
I like this for its benefits of being able to start fires regardless of the situation, it feels solid however the striker could be bigger, I have large hands and the that's my gripe.Like all things, this does take practice, but once the paint is off and you have done it and got the trick this is great value for money.Great size and waterproof!Produces a fantastic spark and the magnesium helps get the initial fire going.Great starter one and easy to use once you get.the knack.

Not great
Not worth it, just get a magnesium rod/ferro as separate pieces. The rods are coated with a layer of something you have to scratch through, and are generally too short to be effective.

Good emergency fire starter
This is good value for the money. I now have the emergency means of starting a fire. I just need to find emergency dry wood in an emergency situation. The magnesium is a great idea but I would have a little tinder in a waterproof capsule too.
