When this album first came out, I was hesitant to buy it because I heard "Come Original" on the radio and I didn't like it much. Years later, one day I decided to get it because I like 311 too much to not at least give it a shot. I'm extremely glad I did.This album is like a cross between the psychedelic-rock vibe of "Transistor" and the complex song structures/hip-hop oriented sound of "Grassroots" or "Music". Some songs are more like either sound while some songs fuse the 2 styles together and create a very unique style that can't really be classified easily. The musicianship of the band is really at it's peak here and so is the creativity. Even "Come Original" grew on me after giving it a chance (although it's not one of my top songs on here). All in all, this is one of the band's best albums, if not their best in my opinion.This is definitely worth buying for longtime 311 fans.For people just getting into them, start with their self titled blue album or "Grassroots".

This album is not a return to anything they have done before. That is good. However, neither was Transistor and that album was all over the place. Although their producing has continued to get better over the years and this album is truly "tight" and beautiful sounding, the lyrics of both Nick and SA have fallen by the wayside over the years. It just sounds like they really ran out of things to say and certainly have grown older, reflected in less rapping, more singing. Chad's drumming is suberb as usual, and great for any aspiring drummer to hear. No idea what they were thinking about when they did the last song. Mindspin is amazing, possibly the best overall track. These guys are wonderful people, and I hope that as their now "younger" crowd today comes to understand their music, that they go back and buy the first two albums, to see how 311 has changed and evolved, more so (to my dismay in a way) than most other bands in the 90's. This album is much more compact and digestable than Transistor, and yes, Nick, "I've been in a mix"...hehe...these guys rule.

Cheesy, Positive and Awesome, it's 311. I remember waiting on this album and when it came out (truly I was disappointed) but now I know what 311 is about I love it.
