The project on the front is amazing and there are others I would like to try inside. Great pictures too. Very inspiring and lovely. Would be a wonderful gift for a needle worker.

I LOVE this embroidery book! I own many embroidery books. Even ordered some directly from Japan as the artists there have such a beautiful approach to embroidery patterns not found often here in the States.This book is filled with beautiful patterns that I really could see myself taking the time to do! It is broken out by color and provides the DMC code chart within.I liked this book so much I bought a second copy to gift to a friend. Highly recommended.I hope you found this review helpful.

Patterns, how-tos, and inspiration. This book really does have it all, and it is easy to follow as a beginner! The patterns are gorgeous, and unlike a lot of embroidery books I've looked at, they are practical rather than just things to hang on the wall! I love that the book includes instructions for sewing the bags, aprons, etc that the patterns are on, as opposed to just providing a pattern with no end goal! I can't wait to do all of the designs in this book- especially the samplers in order to improve my skills. I would definitely recommend this to beginners and seasons embroiderers alike!

Embroidery is a beautiful art form and the craft can be taken to great heights by those with an eye for color and design. This is one of those books that can be added to the list of must-have books by the serious embroiderer. Inspired by nature as the subtitle states, the colors and designs are exquisite and can be used to embellish a great many wearable items as well as a variety of useful bags, container liners, or simply framed to catch the eye. Instructions for each motif shown in the book is included. Happy feelings are a bonus by simply turning each beautiful page.

You can use them in pretty much anything that you can think of.I would buy this book without a doubt.

I must start off by informing the readers of this review that I am a true beginner when it comes to embroidery. With that said, I enjoyed this book. The photography is beautiful, the pattern designs / projects are fresh and modern, and the instructions are one of the best for a beginner. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I didn't enjoy the fact that I had to keep jumping back-n-forth from the project instructions to the finished sample photo. The book starts off with several beautiful images of finished embroidery projects, followed by basic instructions, and then moves into each of the individual projects / patterns. I would have liked for the sample photo to be at the beginning of each project, followed immediately by the instructions / patterns. However, several embroidery books I have reviewed follow a similar format, so maybe that is standard practice? If so, for a beginner, it is a bit frustrating.What I did enjoy the most, was how Alice Makabe tackled Tools & Materials and the Getting Started sections. She went over some basic, fundamental information that other books skim over. In these sections, she covers Fabrics, Interfacing, Preparing the Floss, How to Thread a Needle, How to Transfer the Embroidery Design, How to Insert Fabric in the Embroidery Hoop, How to Start Stitching, How to Finish the Threads, Finishing the Project, and How to Read Embroidery Patterns. After which, she then covers the various stitching techniques, illustrated by photos detailing each step. Many embroidery books cover stitch techniques by using simple colored guides. However, I found that Makabe's approach to stitch techniques worked best for me and my learning style. Lastly, I particularly enjoyed the inclusion of the Needle Size vs Number of Strands and Thread Color Conversion (Olympus vs DMC) charts.I always found embroidery a bit intimidating. However, after reading Alice Makabe's book, I now have the basic knowledge that I was missing before and am excited to give it a try.

Beautiful book with pretty photographs, clear diagrams and full-size templates in the back of the book. There are designs for individual motifs and projects. I feel that the designs shown on projects would be also good as stand-alone motifs. Botanical designs feel classic but contemporary too.

Beautiful Botanical Embroidery is a book that will allow you to do all kinds of botanical embroidery projects, from simple flowers to lovely arrangements and even some things applied to accessories.It has instructions on how to get started overall and for each project and the graphics are great. The instructions are clear, step-by-step and easy to follow.I specially liked the wreaths and the numbers a letters and I will definitely give them a try.

Sehr schönes Buch mit schönen Projekten. Ich bin Anfänger und kann damit arbeiten. Es ist gut erklärt. Bei vielen Projekten wird eine alternative Farbgestaltung gezeigt und die Unterschiede mit deren Wirkung erklärt. Somit kann man von Anfang an schöne Projekte erschaffen und sich weiterentwickeln.
