I bought The Last Bear for my son, and he was completely captivated by it! This book tells a beautifully written, emotional story with themes of conservation, courage, and the importance of nature. My son loved the adventure and the deep connection between the main character, April, and the last remaining polar bear. The narrative is engaging and thought-provoking, with stunning descriptions that really bring the Arctic setting to life. It's also filled with important lessons about protecting the environment and standing up for what’s right. This book sparked great conversations between us about climate change and wildlife conservation, which I really appreciated. Highly recommend for young readers who enjoy adventurous, heartwarming stories with a meaningful message!

The writing is simple and beautiful, making it an easy read, but the message stays with you. I found myself completely engaged, rooting for April and the bear, and feeling every moment of their extraordinary friendship.

Hannah Gold not only spreads awareness about animal population but also conveys a message that the people who don't feel like they fit in; have something unique in themselves. Gold adds such words to the paragraphs which gives you a feeling of being there at the moment. 'The Last Bear', Hannah Gold's best selling book is a heart-warming story about an eleven year old girl and a big cuddly Polar bear. Through the pages of 'The Last Bear', I experienced many emotions. Some parts made me really happy, some made me a little nervous and some made me cry. I would like to appreciate Levi Pinfold the illustrator of 'The Last Bear' and many other books here. Levi's beautiful drawings make the book even more interesting. I highly recommend this book to everyone. It's a very inspirational and motivational novel. Looking forward to reading more stories from Hannah Gold and I wish someone would produce movies based on her spectacular and touching books.

Great Writing

I'm not a child, but a full grown adult but I was hooked on this from start to finish. It's very easy to read but rich with depth and a concern for the Arctic circle and the icebergs and the polar bears that are affected by global warming. It takes this issue and localizes it to one area and a few characters, putting it in the perspective of a little girl and encouraging readers to take their personal steps in saving the environment, no matter how small they feel in comparison to the world. The last few chapters were an emotional roller-coaster. Amazing book!

Amazing book. Anyone who wants to start reading books in english it's perfect to start with this. And story is amazing 👏 🤩 😍 🙌. I want live like April Wood ... I am not kid i am 28 year yound woman now. So irrespective of age you can read.

A lovely story, bought for my then 8 year old and she enjoyed reading it. (Her reading age is roughly 11 but I’d say ages 9 and up would be fine with it) It’s well written and flows well and was challenging in a good way (I.e. some new words to learn but not too many to ruin it).

My 7 yo son and I read this exquisite book together - a couple of chapters each bed time- over a couple of delicious weeks. April’s adventures are compelling, and the story is a great one. but the deeper themes of dealing with grief, personal and for the planet... and the rallying cry to do something about climate change... it’s masterful. Every child (and grown up for that matter) will love this. I was in floods of tears for the final few chapters- so moving it was. I said to James “I don’t think I can keep reading this, I’m crying too much” ... my wise little soul replied “ yes you can Mum- you can read it, you just need to cry too”. Here’s James’ thoughts on the book: “I really liked the book because it was really compelling. It was hard to go to bed between chapters. I particularly liked when April first met Bear. When they were climbing up the mountain, that was a bit risky... I don’t think I’d like to do that! It was sad to learn about what was happening for the polar bears and the melting ice caps. I’m going to try to do something about climate change but I’m worried that I won’t be old enough and it’ll either be fixed or melted by the time I’m grown up. You should definitely read this book with your kids.” One of the great gifts of the time we spent with Bear was that my little man got to see me vulnerable, to understand the feelings I have about the planet, why I do the work I do, and how frustrating grown ups can be sometime. We got so close during our Bear weeks. I feel like it’s been a little pocket of something deeply precious for us. Hannah - you are a magician. I’ll be forever grateful for helping me to have some conversations with my little man that I would never have been able to start without Bears help.
