No Longer the Middle of the Pack
My family and I are big Dominion fans, and over the years we've created our own substitutes for some of the weaker cards. Here, at last, Donald X. and his merry crew have given us a bigger, better, bolder set of Intrigue cards. The seven new Action cards are a lot of fun to play. They are the flexible Courtier (cost $5), the strong but tricky Diplomat (cost $4), the strategic Lurker (cost $2), the handy Mill (cost $4), the much-better-than-Smithy Patrol (cost $5), the much-better-than-Remodel Replace (cost $5), and the sneaky Secret Passage (cost $4). I'm sure we'll discover more interactions between them and other expansions as we go along. One thing to beware of: the product description of this 2nd Edition Intrigue clearly states, "This game adds 25 new Kingdom cards and a complete set of treasure and victory cards," but I didn't receive any new Treasure or Victory cards, and the previous reviewer seems to have experienced the same. The original Intrigue had all the Treasure and Victory cards, and this set stated it did as well, so imagine my frustration when I paid full price for this. The bullet points do explain that it's not a complete game, but that contradicts the description and the elements of the first edition Intrigue--and you'd think the 2nd would have everything and plus some. Regardless, I love the new cards, and we will enjoy incorporating them into our games and strategies for months to come. Intrigue was in the middle of the pack for me, with expansions such as Seaside, Dark Ages, and Empires being my faves, but these new cards add enough fun to push Intrigue back into my top tier of Dominion expansions.

Great expansion
Adds hours and hours and hours of gameplay. We love it. It's a regular addition to our group. Meshes perfectly with the core Dominion. Lots of value here.

Intrigue is a great expansion! Probably not my favorite
I'm a big fan of Dominion but never owned it myself. Then I moved across the country and wanted to get back into it. I bought the base game but after playing with all the expansions for so many years, it seemed a little lifeless. Intrigue is a great expansion! Probably not my favorite, but the theme of cards that force you to make choices is a simple way to expand on the strategy. I was teaching new players how to play this, so why go all out on expansions that add new rules, mats, or currencies? Keep it simple to start with. I like nearly all the changes in 2nd edition. The cards that they added are better than the ones that they replaced. My one complaint is that they removed the base cards from this expansion, so it no longer can serve as a base game on its own, or (more importantly to me) give you enough cards to do a 5-6 player game. Gotta buy the separate base cards for that now. Alas, they are a company trying to make a buck, after all. I won't dock it a start just for that though; it was always intended to be an expansion anyway.

This is a great game!
We love dominion and have several expansion sets now. Be aware that this set doesn't have the base cards, so you either need to have a copy of the original dominion game or else you need to buy the set of base cards. This is a strategy game that allows for a lot of variation in game play. I play with my kids a lot and this is one of their favorite sets. There are some interesting new attack cards and most cards provide different options, which seems to be the theme of this set. Highly recommended! For example the "pawn" card says: Choose two: +1 Card; +1 Action; +1 Buy; +$1. The choices must be different.

Great game - expansion deck to allow for more people to play...but....
Love the expansion game, however, this one did not have the card sorting board to know where cards go and the cards we received as part of this brand new game did not line up with the manual. Not sure what happened or how to get what is missing from our game. {Orginal post I gave 3 stars due to the wrong cards being in our game. I contacted the manufacturer & they sent the missing cards to us, free of charge and promptly. Changed the rating to 4 stars, because of their commitment to fixing the problem.}

A Vintage Gem Amongst Expansions
I do declare that Dominion: Intrigue Second Edition hath proven itself a most excellent and welcome inclusion unto the burgeoning array of expansions gracing mine Dominion treasury. Though it doth bear the mark of age, yet it doth not falter in delivering unto the table a plethora of singular cards, each endowed with the power to infuse every game with heightened intrigue. Mine heart doth hold a special fondness for the trio of victory cards found within this expansion, each endowed with the unique distinction of possessing dual natures. I must opine that this expansion, while not descending to the depths of being deemed the most inferior, neither doth it ascend to the zenith of being pronounced the utmost superlative.

It would be good to mention it isn't a complete game. Service was prompt, game is fun, good call :)
My family has had a lot of good and interesting times with this game; the only problem was that when I was looking into it, the first addition is a complete game (with resource cards), where as this (the second edition) is slightly less expensive, but does not come with resource cards. I did not know that at the time I bought it, but the base cards are not too expensive to purchase with this set. I think it would be good to make that note a tad more prominent so people are not confused like I was. Great game though :)
