definitely worth your time & $
This is a really, really good book; and I usually don't like fiction. You'll especially like it if you're into science (especially genetics), history, No Doubt, hotdogs, humor, or feel like a social outcast. If you're thinking about buying another book instead, "this is better."

Yes, it's Confederacy of Dunces for the VH1 generation
An able satirist, Evan Mandery brings humor and insight into the odd society that treats the trial of the fate of a former porn star's body as though it were Brown v. Board of Ed and the death of a former princess and her inebriated beau in a car accident into a Shakespearean tragedy. He does this through the lens of his narrator, Mortimer Taylor, a Columbia drop out who applies mathematical theory into brining efficiency to placing hot dogs into their buns at his job at Papaya Queen and reads Gwen Stefani lyrics as though he were studying Keats. This short entertain will entertain many a reader, at least those able to laugh at the absurdities of our modern society.

Love Gwen, disliked the book
I really didn't like this book at all. Perhaps this book would have seemed better to me if i hadn't already read A confederacy of Dunces, but either way it just seemed like a waste of time. The title makes you think the book will be about Gwen Stefani, but it turns out to be heavily filled with the subject of hotdogs.

Terrific Novel!
Really great read. Unfortunately, Amazon won't allow 4 and 1/2 stars which is what the book deserves. I think the previous reviews have said it all, so I won't bother adding any more insight except for this; thanks to Mr. Mandery, I now have an infatuation with 100% all-beef hot dogs.If you like the Mortimer Coleridge character, I also recommend the documentary "The Cruise" by Bennett Miller. Somewhat of a similiar character in the respect that both main characters are geniuses, but have squandered their intelligence to work menial jobs in NYC.
