Too many errors to be a useful review resource
It’s a good idea for a question bank, but has SO MANY ERRORS. You can spend just as much time verifying the incorrect and nonsensical errors than you actually do reviewing the subject. There are multiple types of errors: 1) direct contradictions between the “correct” answer and the explanation, 2) questions where the answers are revealed in the choices, 3) questions where the “correct” answer was not an option at all (like the answer key was for a different question altogether)Also the format where you write in the answers is inconvenient and if you accidentally press a directional button, you have to start over.I would not recommend buying this edition, wait and see if the next edition fixes these problems.

Will be great...when it's finished
Bought this book for studying for neurosurgery boards. It seems mostly designed to be used as an online question bank, as many questions and answers aren't in the book itself. Online, all of the questions are in a light gray text on a white background, making prolonged study very difficult. You can't flag questions. There are numerous pictures and charts that display as miniscule thumbnails with no way to click and enlarge them. There are also several mistakes in the online version (one chapter has every answer description mismatched to the question, other questions say one answer but explain another, and others seem like theyre missing a key sentence in the question). That said, it covers a vast array of subject matter and will provide a good review when the problems are sorted out.

An OK starting point for board review, but rife with errors.
Very thorough, including basic questions on spinal alignment, scoliosis, pediatrics, and functional neurosurgery. Many questions refer to practice patterns in the UK, so this may not be ideal for US readers. Decent questions, but quite a few errors in labeling figures and in the answer key. Could definitely use more diagrams rather than long paragraphs of text to explain difficult concepts. The fact that you have to go online to access a good number of the questions is tremendously unfair to residents using this book - shame on the publishers. That said, what is there is educational. This is not meant to be used as a primary textbook, but there are few other books that offer this many exam-quality questions.

Just a TON of errors - it's not a finished publication!
Purchased for ABNS exam prep.Pros: glossy, color photos, nice formatting. Interactive testing mode in e-book, with questions grouped by difficultyCons: too many errors makes it irritating to work with. Some questions are poorly designed with multiple answers, or no correct answers. Answer letters may be wrong. Answer choices may be only half a choice. There may just be pure misinformation. Can be useful for patient people with time to spare, but be prepared to have to verify answers with other sources often. If short on time, can be just plain irritating and not so helpful.

MUITO BOM!
É UM LIVRO IMPORTANTE PARA QUEM NÃO TEM TANTO TEMPO PARA ESTUDAR.OBJETIVO SEM SER INCOMPLETO. DESCREVE O QUE O NEUROCIRURGIÃO, EM LINHAS GERAIS, DEVE SABER PARA TOMAR A CONDUTA MAIS ADEQUADA. RECOMENDO PARA PROVA DE TÍTULO , COMO UM LIVRO COMPLEMENTAR E ESSENCIAL.

Highly recommended for FRCS SN (Surgical Neurology).
I had bought this book last year. Went through a Neurosurgery Handbook, then completely based my study around this book. There are some typos and mistakes in it but, overall it is quite exhaustive. The questions cover most of the important topics they expect you to know in the FRCS SN exam. I am delighted to let you know that I passed my exam in the first attempt and I would highly recommend this book. My compliments to the writers and contributors to the book.

Great for UK neurosurgeons - very readable
A few typos and mismatched answers, but essentially a very good book, especially for UK candidates that have previously had to use US books, which lean towards more basic science.

Strong Aid for your neurosurgical exam prep
Probably the only UK focused exam preparation book for FRCS exams.First edition had few mistakes (mcqs answers) and confusion discrepancies between hard and soft copies.Yet its still very useful and filled with essential material for neurosurgery exam preparation
