Amazingly simple to install, works every time, no false triggers
Comes set for door that opens on the right but it was very easy to change to my door that opens from the left. Bought this as it seemed simple to install and it worked well with smartthings hub as far as the reviews I found online before I bought it said. Thry where totally correct, this was literally installed and setup in smartthings in maybe 2 minutes, that's hardware and software installation combined. It was a little harder to get the correct webCoRE piston running to make the switch operate the way I wanted it to but as long as you are ok with a small device being by your door hinge this product is great. It includes the required CR2 battery and has an advertised life of 2 years, I have had it a few months and it went to 90% in a couple days but since then it has consistently read 90% so that seems fairly accurate. I do not believe that the CR2 that comes with the unit is rechargeable but you can buy rechargeable versions, which I recommend if you have several devices that use CR2 batteries, otherwise just buying a regular 4 pack would last around 8 years. If you buy rechargeable ones you will most likely need to buy a special charger for it as well as they are 3V batteries but also lithium ion based so a NiMH charger wouldnt work and most Li-ion chargers only have 3.2, 4.2 and 4.7v settings and you need to charge lithium based batteries correctly or you risk fire or explosion. Just a little fyi for those not experienced with charging non standard size or voltage batteries that contain lithium chemistry (not that others dont require special charging too but from my experience lithium ones should be treated with respect)

Not really Iris compatible
As a design engineer I thought this was a great idea for a door sensor. Unfortunately it comes across as rather delicate. The adjustment of the arm is very finicky. While I finally got Iris to recognize it, it loads as a non certified device and includes the note that support is not available from Iris. Support is available from GE it just did not solve the basic problems. The standard door/window sensors work on proximity of the sensor to a magnet. It is there/armable or not there/open. As near as I can figure the GE unit sends a signal as the arm is rotated past a certain point and it sends the same signal as the door is rotated back to a closed position. I was never able to get a door closed indication which means the system cannot be armed without the door not being monitored. I bought three of these and tried two of them with no luck. Thanks to Amazon and their return policy.

Setup takes time, but works reliably
I use this with a Wink (v1) hub. Installation involves removing one hinge pin and adding this device to the top before reinserting the pin. There is a small adapter ring included for smaller hinge pins (I needed it on my entry door). The spring-loaded lever has a cap held in place with a screw that you need to remove to adjust the lever position. When the screw is removed, the lever assembly tends to want to pop up a bit, and pressing down on it manually can make the detector switch engage before it should, so adjustment involved putting it together, trying it, and taking it apart again to adjust a number of times. Also because the lever has discrete adjustment positions I couldn't get it to trigger until the door was open about 6-8 inches, but this can be fixed by adding a small shim to the door where the lever touches to make up the difference. When adjusting, the lever will click and the light will flash whenever it detects an on or shut. Since my hinge pin doesn't sit tightly in the hinge, after a few uses the assembly starts to sag a bit, causing a small change in when it detects the door opening. The unit is fairly large, but for me the color matches the trim and it's in a corner, so it doesn't really stick out that much. Operation has been reliable. It hasn't had any connectivity issues and I get an update on my phone every time the door is opened within a few seconds of it triggering (event setup on Wink app). It also reports battery level in Wink.

Excellent Door Sensor!
Not sure why there is so many mixed reviews for this? I installed this a few days ago and it's been working perfectly. It has a very small form factor, you only need to remove the hinge pin once for the cap installation and the bottom tube twists off for changing batteries or pairing the device to a hub. It's among the smallest profile door sensors i've seen and is out of the way behind the door. Battery life hasn't moved at all since it was installed days ago with regular use, however the battery did come out of the box at 80% and not 100% (maybe buy your own CR2 batteries). Only con I have is the tube doesn't sit flush against the hinge pin, the cap/gear that sits on the pin pushes it out like 1/8 of an inch so there is a very small gap that makes it look a little odd. It took me a few tries to pair the device with Wink, but it eventually added and paired just fine. Door opening and closing events trigger real time (i setup an alert-tone on my phone and could hear it before the door finished opening or closing).

Love this unit. Easy to install and set up. I will buy more. Waiting for a sale.

Good but was a bit of a pain to pair.

Had a very specific application with this pin mounted on my entrance door to my condo. Had to change the pin from left hand to right hand. Instructions were clear, but actually making the switch took about a half hour. Finally got it and mounted it on the door. The hinge pin was larger than most interior doors, but still fit. However, it was obviously too tight a fit as everytime the door opened and closed, the Pin Sensor moved with the door pin. Thus it would not trigger properly on either opening or closing. Made adjustments as per the instructions which was no easy. Still could not get a consistent signal on opening or closing. I might add that it was very easy to link this to my zwave hub. That was the easiest part. I decided that it was not going to work on my entrance door so decided I could use it on my pantry door which has normal size hinge pins. So an hour later I have it mounted on my pantry door. It was definitely more consistent with giving a signal at the same position of opening, but getting a consisent closing signal was not happening. This Sensor Pin was still rotating about the hinge pin of the door although nowhere near what it was doing on the exterior door. After 5 hours of trying to get this device to work I finally gave up, packed it up and returned it. Electronically it seems to work well and sends out a Zwave signal, but mechanically it just didn't cut it.

Device is delivered in left door opening position. Instructions are simple to change to right hand opening however the machining of the tiny gear was not precise. After much examination of the physical workings of this switch I had to use needle nose pliers and slightly raise a metal pin that rides against the gear in order to have it travel enough to function the switch. Works as described after this small fix.

Exactly what I was looking for. I installed it on the bottom hinge, it doesn’t stand out that way. Paired it with a Dome alarm/chime. That works but it was annoying. Ended up just allowing the notifications on my iPad. That seems to be sufficient. I get a pop up message and a ding when the door opens and again when it closes.
