One side is smooth acrilic the other is more pourous and difficult to use and colors are different on back side. Functional for now.

I ordered these signs to use on my door for work. My daughter helped me decorate them. I use them interchangeably on a daily basis.

If you are looking for actual chalkboard material take a pass on this one. One side is more of just a matte black finish and the other side is a shiny black finish. I used paint markers on these to customize them and the string included was a nice touch so that there was no need to find something separately to hang the signs.

These are pretty, they're thick enough to be sturdy but are still very lightweight. They're all plastic, though, and the back side is not coated with the chalkboard material like the front is. This is really crappy, and meant I had to figure out how to coat/write on the back. I was making signs for small office door windows to indicate availability of the occupant and I needed to use both sides. I ended up using sharpie oil paint markers, and they work alright even on the shiny plastic side, but the overall look isn't as nice as the chalkboard side.

I purchased this item to use at my office with chalk markers. The acrylic side was shiny and the chalk markers worked well. I was able to write and erase easily.The one issue I had was that the hanging string it comes with, was so thready and linty that it made a BIG mess everywhere. It was difficult to remove once it got on the shiny acrylic side of the chalkboard and left linty trails everywhere. I ended up having to buy and use different string to hang them with.

Not chalkboard at all have to use white sharpie instead of chalk!!

I loved the size. It was perfect for me.

I was searching for tiny little chalkboards to hang outside my exam room doors to alert my medical assistants that a photo was in progress. Thought these inexpensive little boards would provide a temporary solution until I found “something better”. I have no need to look further, they are sturdy, perfect size and with a little chalk art, are doing the trick beautifully!
