Q: From the reviews i see this is made small, but seems to be made well...how small? i am a size 8 woman.is a large my best option or xl?

My daughter is 5'7" and is around a size 6 or an 8 and we ordered the medium for her and she couldn't even button it up. I ended up having to unpick a seam on it and let it out because I didn't have time to get her a new one for Halloween. It ran super small, especially through the bust (& she's small busted), and the material didn't have a lot of stretch to it. We really liked he costume though and it was super cute on. Hope that helps!!!

Q: What is the material of the jacket? it doesn't look like polyester. also, i'm concerned about the hat. is it small, too?

The jacket is pretty stiff material, it almost has a thick canvas/burlap feel too it. I would order a size up because it ran small & the fabric doesn't have any give or stretch to it. The hat fit great though, it wasn't small at all. Hope that helps!

Q: Can the shirt be removed to just use the jacket?

No and yes....let me explain- there is technically no separate shirt. There is a collar and two shirt panels, and lace cuffs sewn on the coat. It's a pink polyester material. I'm planning on cutting off the pink "shirt" material and substituting a thin white sleeveless collared shirt, so I'm removing the "shirt". The lace on the end of the sleeves looks nice, so I'm keeping that.

Q: Does it come with gloves?

Yes, they are floral gloves that have no fingers. They match the big bow
