I don't use these for the traditional method. I have rats as pets and we use the scoop to separate the small rocks we use in their litter box from the poops. This has a nice big head and has decent slots in it. For my use the slots could actually be wider to let more poops through but it does work great. The larger size is good because I can sort through the box much faster than with the smaller other scoop we have. The head is metal and seems like it is well made and should last quite a long time.

The shovel and handle are a single unit--no spot welding that busts with the slightest pressure. The width of the shovel will allow me to reduce the number of times that I need to use it in an effort to empty the litter pan. The handle is comfortable to hold. Easy to clean.

I have pine pellets for my cats. They don't quite fall through on this, but this is still a very high quality scoop.

Good quality, but little big and cat sand not well goes through.

This is a nice heavy duty litter scoop. I much prefer metal scoops over plastic, and this one works well.
